1. Yes true, but half the time you realise how much weight you're carrying your actually driving. By then its a bit to late to start unloading. And even then you still wouldn't know the actual weight your carrying. For all you know you could be massively overloading or under loading the van. Thanks
2. Hey Guys, I am currently using a Ford T220 Transit for running wood about but I am worried about overloading the van and causing it to break down lots. Just wondering if anyone used on board vehicle weighing systems for smaller vans? What kind of price am I looking at to get one and installed? And if anyone can recommend any companies? Thanks Sam
3. Ill give that a go on my next stack. Roughly how quick will it season doing it that way? All the wood will be for next years sales so hopefully it will all be sub 20%mc.
4. I think I would end up with the veg and gravy if my partner caught me with one of them on my plate :001_tt2:
5. After having read the thread on billeting or logs, and due to the yard I have at the minute (on a steep hill and struggle to get machines up and down it), I have decided to go down the billeting road. With no money in the budget to buy a hydraulic splitter I thought this would be a nightmare to try and split by hand. So I have my oak roundwood on the yard cut to length of about 1m. Tried splitting the metre lengths with a maul and actually found it relatively easy to split. The picture of the billet pile shows all that I managed to split in a few hours. All the nasty, knotty bits are going to be logged and split and put in the polytunnel to season and all the straight nice bits are now going to be billeted and left outside undercover. And for added security I have employed I have some mean security guards. They don't take no messing around and will eat anything that is on the yard Hope you enjoy the pictures.
6. Tell me about it! It fed us for years
7. Watched a programme about best way to guess the weight of a sheep, and they best way is to take an average of all the guesses and put that as your guess. At the moment the average is 18.1 ton. And yes I am having a very quite evening
8. Also another thing to be aware of is the actual web address you are looking at. If the web address your looking at isn't Electronics, Cars, Fashion, Collectables, Vouchers and More Online Shopping | eBay then you are probably looking at a website that copies ebay, hence if you sign in or buy anything then they can get your details. Its better explained on here: Recognising Spoof (Fake) eBay Websites
9. We had a busy year setting up a new layout on the yard so we could produce more wood, but from doing that we didn't have enough time to get the wood into dry. But if there is anyone in South Wales (We are in Merthyr Tydfil) that wants to sell me some seasoned wood I would be quite happy to buy some
10. Same as TCD, all my wood has been reserved before hand, just waiting for it to go out now. Looks like I will have a wood free Christmas
11. I think "log piles" should be highlight and made bold in the title. People might post the wrong kind piles on here. :001_tt2: Ill try and get some decent pictures on the weekend but we are looking pretty empty on the firewood at the minute.
12. Just like to say what a great thread this is! The more that's known about stress the better, and reading this thread has made me realise that actually there are a lot of people around me suffering from stress but not doing anything about it. Myself, I can handle stress pretty well, but my other half has all the classic signs of stress, lack of sleep, headaches and general agitated. She does reckon she's stressed and hence wont do anything about it. Just wondering whether someone has had a similar experience and can recommend the best way to go about getting her to realise she is over stressed and needs help?
13. I've spoken with Rock Machinery and apparently there machine is fully CE approved. And the machines are going for about £1600.
14. Ive burnt lots of Scots pine for the last few years, doesn't take long at all to season, gives good heat but does spark a lot as it has quite a bit of sap in it.
15. I did it once just for one cbm (As advertised). Wood turned out to be soaking wet, and was actually only half a cbm. Ive lost a few customers to this guy, but by Christmas they will all be back haha.
16. Cold weather predicted for the end of the week, Ive got a feeling the phone will be ring lots towards the end of the week.
17. Great thanks for that Alycidon, I reckon from the truck load I should have about 2 thirds of the amount I would get from an artic. And funnily enough I saw a truck and drag today while making a delivery. Thanks again
18. Hi Guys, Does anyone sell log stores in the South Wales area? Ive had a few customers asking to buy log stores but don't know of anyone who would deliver them to Merthyr Tydfil.
19.
Hi Mattel, Just had someone email me about buying a log store. Could you PM pictures, prices and dimensions of the log stores you have available? Thanks Sam

20. Sorry how many cbm of chopped logs will I get from the full lorry?
