  1. Haha I did exactly the same when I got mine and my sofa legs where about 10% When Ive tested air dried logs they all tend to be around 16%
  2. Don't see the problem selling it cheaper for unseasoned wood. You can split it straight into the truck and deliver it, rather than stacking it in the yard for a year then selling it.
  3. Ive changed that for you before the Firewood police come knocking :001_tt2:
  4. Here is my contribution, while out in Russia in a place called Pyatigorsck this place did the best mixed grills you will ever taste. Sitting outside while they cook it a few metres away in the sun, it was bliss.
  5. Yer I know they must be selling some cheap wood I just use it for the electric, gas and oil prices.
  6. Yer that's the weight im using, maybe completely wrong but Ive forgotten to reference my figures so I don't know where I have got them from.
  7. I think your figures are a bit wrong, I sell HW (0.75 bag) at £80 and I get a number of 6.7p/kWh, unless your sell at over £160. I found the biomass centre a good reference for gas and electric prices, from the link you can see wood is more expensive than everything else. Fuel costs per kWh But I push the fact that your buying a renewable product, and renewable, eco and free range products come at a price.
  8. Cheer for that, just had a quick look and they look pretty decent and well priced
  9. Yer I found weights for seasoned 1cbm bags and then scaled it down to a 0.75cbm bag. He does seem like the awkward customer that will question everything you say.
  10. Have you got a link for the trackers? Would be interested in the size of the unit. Slap one of them on your vehicle(or any equipment), and your then one step ahead of them. Thanks
  11. To work out the energy you need to know the weight of either the bag of wood or the weight of the whole load. Then using the tables in the link above you can work out the energy per load. I did so calcs for 0.75cbm bags for softwood and hardwood and they came out as 760kWh and 1200kWh respectively at and average MC of 20%. The only problem I had was getting the weight of the bags of wood (they were educated guesses from previous threads about the weight of a cbm). And before Mark Bolam says anything, No they weren't a ton :001_tt2: Hope this helps Steph.
  12. Fair play they look like great machines.
  13. Surely you could have fitted more on that?
  14. Even on Woodlots people are starting to call it cordwood, next the Forestry Commission will be calling it cordwood (Not that they actually have any communication with the real world)
  15. You bid per tonne (but you have to buy the whole load), and then yes you have to arrange delivery. Buying through the FC I have found to be a very hard way of buying wood due to all the paperwork/admin rubbish you have to do before hand.
  16. Yes I could imagine the flame, that's why I pull the plug as far away as possible.
  17. Ive checked all the connection and none of them were broken so all the electrics were fine. I think I will take it to the shop to be fixed rather than me messing about with it myself, save me ruining the saw! Thanks for the replies.
  18. I have a Stihl 024 and it has had no problems starting. This weekend ive tried to start it and nothing happened. Looked at the spark plug to see if it was sparking, no sparks to be seen. Changed the spark plug and still there were no sparks. I then tested all the wiring to make sure everything was connect and all the wires were fine. I have the suspicion the ignition coil has gone but don't want to go buying one because if I have diagnosed it wrong then Im spending money on nothing. Or do I take it to a shop and get them to price it up for me (but with the saw being so old if the repair cost over a certain amount then I may as well buy a new saw). Any comments/suggestion will be greatly appreciated
  19. I tried drilling stumps with a Bosch battery drill and the battery lasted 10 minutes on it. Get a generator and an electric drill maybe?
  20. Use SolidWorks , it is soo much better than AutoCAD. I doubt whether you'll find anywhere that teaches autocad specifically for the arb industry. But local colleges (and google and youtube) would be a great place to learn it.
  21. Avon stuff has never worked for me, I use the deet sprays and they work a treat.
  22. Aaaaaaaahhh I hate this thread sooo much. I could demolish that in a sandwich right now hahah. Bring on the summer, I think a hog roast is on one of my lists to do!!
  23. Oh sorry I was being a bit dull there Your secret safe with me!! Anyone got an artic of softwood firewood??
