  1. As others have said, we have a Riko A11 petrol, its a great splitter but is over £2000. I had mine as an ex demo for around £2000. If you fancy testing it you are more than welcome to try it out.
  2. With the amount of rain we have had, unless they are undercover, the outside of the log is going to much wetter than the inside. Get them undercover and in a windy place will be the best way to dry these for burning this year. If you cover them up in a place that gets no wind then you wont dry the logs out in this weather. You will just end up growing mold. Happy New Year
  3. Give me a ring if you need seasoned logs, Nelson isn't to far away from us
  4. We have a site by Talybont, drop me a PM.
  5. How did you get those stacks so straight??? I think I need lessons.
  6. Or as you have already started, make a few spaces along the width of the tunnel. Save you restacking the pile again, and if you have no mould problems you can take the spaces out.
  7. So long as it is dry it will burn fine, and if its free even better. Some species burns quicker than hardwoods, and you would need to check if burning on an open fire due to the spitting. I prefer softwood as its easier to handle and easy to light and you get to poke the fire a bit more.
  8. Looks pretty good. One thing I have found to stop mold, put the logs in part seasoned/ dry from rain water makes a huge difference. My layout is different as in I don't have the middle pallets just pallets up against the sides and have a walkway through the middle. May get mold problems close to the middle but you wont know until you try.
  9. Wow, thats a big tree. Did you count the rings on it at all?
  10. You could just leave it, use the brush cutter to make paths through the site, then after 2-3 years go out cutting all the small bent stems and use them to make woven fencing.
  11. That was the temperature in the polytunnel today along with a selection of drying logs on the yard
  12. I think I would get a bit sea sick in that haha, moves like a boat.
  13. Its quite literally been a cracking Easter!
  14. Haha please do and Ill try and match it with another stack that's up on the hill that's in a bad way. VI I will had over your winnings if I can lend your spirit level :laugh1:
  15. Aaah I see, fair point. A little winch crane could be a cheapish alternative
  16. Don't know whether I am missing something but cant you lift the bags from a pallet underneath the bag?
  17. Snap! Now give me all your firewood... Near enough free to make if your a fencer or have fencer friends. Not sure how they will hold up using forks on them. Cant be much different from the Posch netting system
  18. Ill second that, great splitter and Riko are great to deal with.
  19. I saw the chippers in action last weekend, they looked hungry for wood. Sorry to hear the wood got pinch, how much was taken?
  20. Forgot this one, V.I spends his weekends getting these out of his woods:001_tt2:
  21. Never knew you were into your brewing as well as your charcoal:biggrin:
  22. Gutted for them, thats a lot of gear. Sounds like the same people that had equipment out of Welshwoodsman yard. And they got in the same way by cutting gates. And its only going to get worse with the road expansions going on
  23. Hate oak, I have had the same problems as you. Probably caused by only ever burning softwood, I now dont have the skills to burn oak haha
  24. Just a heads up, saw today on Farmers Free Ads on Facebook that lots of people have been offered Stihl chainsaws from 2 lads driving a white Transit van. Reg details of the van and locations where they have been seen are all on the thread on FB. If you cant access it but want details I can forward on the info to you. https://www.facebook.com/groups/farmersfreeadsuk/?fref=nf
