  1. An 051 would be an absolute min. Ive at 056 which is the next saw up but has plenty of torque. About same speed of cut as my 064. However i uee the 56 fir milling as i hate 2 use the 64 for millin as its a gr8 climbin saw.

  7. hope you can get it in the door then without dismantling it!! I am keen to do a similar project, when i get around to it, or more prescisely get this Burr Oak milled up. Do you know of anywhere i can get some kiln dried Oak locally

  15. yes,yes yes yes and yes. wedge as you go, every 3ft or so depending on you thickness of plank. that woodis putting some serious weight on the bar and slowing you down. again, depending upon what length your cutting and type of wood, sharpen every 2 or 3 boards. s

Andrew, thanks for the above info. those prices in my mind seems very good for the quality of the planks. as per your view with regards firewood costs, i hope not as i have an even larger one to deal with, and this will have to be CM`d due to its woodland location where extraction is not an option! http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/milling-forum/60776-4-6ft-burr-oak-another-project.html
  21. those planks look gorgeous! a quick question, will that sapwood not rot / fall off when dry, or will it stay attached for ever more??
  22. my boy has a pair. god dammed awefull things in my mind. that front pad idea was desgined clearly by a non climber in my opinion!!! gaff angle also seems wrong. best avoided in my view, save for the decent ones. bashlins or klien
  23. cant comment on the end product rating, but having milled a small 10" diamenter trunk, yes hard going but beautiful when cut.
  24. are you insured to handle that volume of fuel? most insurances dont.
