  1. Bit like the new boxed German 070 on there!!!!!
  2. Yes great work, that was posted sometime ago now, but worth seeing again!!
  3. If its screeching it will be a little owl. If its twit twooing a pair of tawny owls. Barn owls you are very unlikely to hear. Gr8 carving.
  4. How are these transfered on to the wood then? I guess your not putting them thru your pixma printer!!!
  5. Chain too slack lookin at that. Will give you a ring mark in the near future, may even be this week
  6. Looks like you could do with a bigger mill
  7. i hate those torx bolts on the timberwolf. changing the outer blade is never an issue as you can get a good angle and pressure on them, however the inner blade is a PITA as your struggling with the angle especially on the bolt nearest the housing. even with the torx holes picked out cleanly and copper slip used every time they are still a PAIN!!!!
  8. Yep more stickers required. Dont let big j catch you!!!!
  9. a good climber will make the job look near effortless. work with that person and ask questions. practice practice and more practice as every tree is different and you will gain more the more you do. the lad that works for me has been climbing for two years, and although there is a 14yr age gap, he aint as quick or as precise as the old man. dont look at the branch your cutting, look three or more ahead.............
  10. from here looks like a simple mornings work, nice grassy mound behind for branches, lower off any cord, and a few ply sheets ideal just in case. i can only think of one job a mewp was needed for any work we do in past 16yrs. get your ass up there!!
  11. What u need is some 1/2" and a 090G
  12. Thanks Eddy & spud!! One ditty of info i had forgotten about. When i was on a 5ft oak when it hadnt even really started, when i pulled the saw from the cut the saw would rev ever so slightly on each tug to remove it. That was b4 the carb issuse started. So given a tug on the bar, may that suggest crank seals as it was tweaking the crank on yanking?
  13. Thx spud. So how do diagnose under vac what gasket is the issue?. Throttle was pushed back manually with no effect on revs. Yes has a vane, this has not been touched. The saw was tuned with 4ft bar on in 4ft wood and rev limiter still kicks in and is or was tached to 6k if i recall. The plug has only recently run white. Was nice colour b4.
  14. As described, 3rd paragraph
  15. Long story short after getting the old girl runnin and using for nearly two years a small problem has cropped up.all gaskets where changed oil seals etc. Apart from crank gasket. The engine would not drop back to tick over even tho tge throttle was back and no amount of twiddlin the tick over or low jet would help. Due to this the chain kept running on So new clutch springs where put in but still no help Thinking they where at fault. It would still get full revs under load but wouldnt idle. It went down hill quite quickly. Used it fine. Got it out chain ran on used it for a couple of cuts. Put away, got out again and no amount of twiddlin sorted it. Hence where we r now. Spark plug however was almost white even though it had been running fine and the right choclate colour Previously. the L screw also made little difference to it either so perhaps worn jets? We then pressure checked it all thinking an air leak due to the plug colour. So exhaust and carb off and blanked. Red oil added under pressure and no leaks found. Except from the small finger nail size oil gauze under the carb on the oil filler side. Does this gauze have somekind of seal inside or a gasket on the oil pump itself and is likely to be the cause of my issue? If oil gets out, air can get in?If not should we go back and look at the carb itself? I may buy a cheap new carb and thro that on and see if it works or not. Any input most welcomed as i need the saw!!
  16. If u r the milling man, then its ur expertise that shud be guiding your client. Beech is useless outside and will be a waste of your time and presume their money. Better off as firewood for the bunk house.
  17. Unless you need the timber, i wouldnt waste my time on those two deeply fissured short sections. Even then the butt end looks knotty at the top. Interesting grain iam sure but perhaps a pain keeping flat once milled and free from checking in this warm weather....
  18. In 18yrs ive sharpend many a saw. I can count on 1 finger how many times ive used calipers. As with a driving test, you learn to pass the test. In the real world things work differently.i dont have time to fanny around makin sure of .5 tollerance accross the teath On all my saws. Those who cite kickback due to sharpning limitations dont work in the real world. More academics i feel. Poor saw use of the tip of the bar as we all know is the second major issue for kickback. First issuse is the idiot driving it.
  19. Thanks. Thats spalted holly
  20. Lovely. Where u find deer hook?
  21. as i mentioned originally chains can be custom made should they be required from the main link above
  22. Thanks mark. A table is on the cards but our cottage is onky so big. Savin my table for my burr oak when milled etc. First up wifey wants a blanket box. Got somd nice cherry 2" boards 2 yrs air dried which may see some action or some yew ive got. Plan was to sell my planks, not keep builib things!! Cherry it seems makes a good price locally anway £28 3ft and with most if by boards at tgat size i make that £340 !!
