Jon,

When you send timber to Ian, you use Hermes I believe? They state no items over a certain length and weight. How do you get around this?

Thanks Simon

2. Burr Oak, yeh i`d go with that :-) cost wise n idea but iv egot two to do as well what size lenght and width? Taper?
3. If you search thru my post for fugly Yew, should be some pictures of my offering. Sussex based 2" thick up to 28" wide air dried barn stored 2yrs I wud think.
4. Whilst working on some chestnut coppice today, and the home of my large burr oak I posted some time ago now my new colleague was not aware of burr oak. After showing him my 4.5ft monster and another pippy oak in the woods I googled it to show him what beauty lies within. Upon searching I came across this gentlemens website and have just browsed his gallery. The work some of you post is amazing too as is this: Roger Michael Fine Furniture If only I had the skills, I've got the wood!!
5. Some stunning colouration and figure on that last image! Anymore shots?
6. Far too much money, for likes of little old me anyway. Thinkin of getting a nice series 3 for doggin purposes
7. There was a post a while back with a big beech milled. As you will see from the pictures and comments big beech is notorious for internal rot, cavities, shake and other problems. Until its on the ground you won't know. I've got one to do soon, possibly this week which is spalted! But the butt is very straight for 8ft about 40" too I think
8. Pictures or it didn't happen!!
9. Strange, it appears the Horsham tree surgery link above, doesn't actually go to http://www.horshamtreesurgery.co.uk
10. Once you sand you will probably loose the silvering. Wax is, in my view annoying as it attracts dust and sticks easily. I would prob use a Danish oil gives a similar matt finish
11. Never climbed on wet slippery oak!!! When wet and algaefied its nasty stuff as stubby says, on ya ass!!!
12. Not keen on showing the heart wood is he!!

All I know is, if my 090 can't cut through it its one hell of a tree Stubby, what's the breeding of your springer?
14. 21 tons for just having a go?? You must have a lot of spare time on your hands or be very very keen!! Why not just get a couple of sticks first?
15. all my sites are thru 1&1. all good past 5yrs!
16. I did get a cheap patterned part from fleabag, may be the one on the link. For some reason it just kept jamming on the Paul's after first pull and then would not recoil until you took hole thing off and then bits exploded all over the shop. I also took out all parts from the old and put in the new, still no success so guessing tolerances are off somewhere.
