  1. Thanks, length unimportant as such 5ft?, thickness 2 or 3" would be sweet
  2. I've second dibs too! Your third reserve Steve
  3. Nice looking burrr. Drop me a price of a board please when milled. Looking for a nice bit for a table.
  4. Very good price too with a 60" bar. Shame its in America though!
  5. Well beech isn't macrocarpa or wellingtonia though is it?
  6. Sweet looking seat! Do you build the bench back and base on a square frame, then integrate it on to the more natural frame?
  7. Thanks Andy, not looking for major use as such mainly for me at home, but also clients wanting there wood split. I also have some Oak butts in the yard that need ringing and splitting as I sell the odd bag here and there
  8. I've got some approximately 12" in diameter plus crotches?
  9. Looking at the 22 ton version, primarily for me at home, but also have a potential job coming up which would pay a good proportion of the cost. Does anyone run one, and if so what are your thoughts please?
  10. I can't find the article now, but there was an image and write up somewhere using two 090's and a 12ft bar! Thought I had it saved but can't find it now
  11. So, out of interest, why did you buy the tungsten chain? Cutting concrete or car roofs off? Or do you work for the fire brigade and have one of them resue saws?
  12. You can fly with saws in a wooden crate if apart and fully emptied and surgically clean to remove fuel vapour etc. We travelled to maderia with copious amounts of kit without issue. That was a few years back so might of changed but should be easy enough.
  13. My father is or until he retired last month a precision engineer. In the old days he used to machine the calipers you measure things with and made precision military components from tungsten carbide. He sharpens my blades on a milling machine, and as long as the blades are kept in there pairs no issues. Don't be tempted to remove any major Nick's in the blades as other wise you need to grind the pair down equally, loosing several regrinds. I have been shown how to do it and I am bit blonde and its pretty easy
  14. If, on the other hand you are looking for wide waney edge timber in the raw form to choose your own bit, you won't find better in the south than these guys.https://www.facebook.com/Copford-sawmill-132272686819508/?fref=ts&__nodl
  15. Look for forum member RobD, he's that way. Can't find his website though.

  17. Thank you, Has this been confirmed by microscopic examination or just theory? Surely even tearing wood apart is still causing a destruction of cells and fibres etc?
  18. May I be so dumb to ask why that should be:confused1:
  19. I wouldn't worry about chip size, as long as it cuts relatively quick and accurate. I would also be inclined to have a selection of bar and chain combination as the bar looks way over sized for that log, which looking at the boards looks rotten in the middle? Mine is coming out next few weeks, big 5ft Oak fallen over
  20. You got elm Harry? Any nice burry bits?
  21. Out trading the next pup for shooting next year. Just got indoors, just wind here.
  22. .5 & .2 of mm ain't much different really is it. Go and cut some wood and put your calipers away.
  23. Auto correct!! Indeed smallfield, Surrey!
  24. Hi Guys, Job is a bit out of my parish, and have another local customer who is having the woodchip, however we will have a selection of logs from a large weeping willow we are taking down. I only run a land rover and running logs back to our yard in south horsham will be a nightmare! Does anyone have somewhere or know of anyone where we could lose a load or three? Happy to donate to beer token fund Job booked in for next Tuesday. Thanks Simon
