  1. Not to panic yet, but thanks for tge offer. Just pricing things up. Could that sort of block be changed out for a joystick type control?
  2. Ok thanks. So i coukd be done relatively easily. Drybollox are new to me! I still climb with a prussik! What sort of costs do you think? Thanks
  3. Not sure where to ask buy here seems a start. Looking at getting a small loading machine for use in the yard, jobs to include lifting log bags, pushing fire in etc. Anf possible on site use. The machines i have wittled down. However one i have spotted only has two leavers, boom up n down and one for bucket action. If i was looking at a log grab or muck forks can an additional service be added to the machine for that purpose sn2d ram? It runs a 4cyl diesel donkey.
  4. Rabbits are easier than birds for quick dispatch, the priests ive made are 190 and 200gms. Looking online it seems an average weight.
  5. @Rhystree May i ask how much the fabrication was for the forks please. Ta
  6. I am here, someone call! Some old pictures somewhere from the cathedral of the falcon. They next there ev4ry year and are part of the fixtures. There also used to be a nesting pair at amberly chalk pits about 5 or 6 years back
  7. I think any item of sufficient solidness twatted on the head will be enough to dispatch the quarry. Have now made a brace and have four coats of spray lacquer, and the leather arrived for the handles. Pretty pleased with the results. Awaiting a field trip!
  8. Been poking in the shed last night and found some old twisted chestnut stems i had saved from a while back, and have played around with them today. Firstly for myself to see if they look any good will then do one for the good lady. Thanks for the replies, will keep in mind your offers. Have orderd some nice leather for the lanyard.
  9. Thanks Steve. Let me have a think and see if can find weights. Some examples i have seen have a shotgun shell cap inserted in tge end with and oz or 2 inbeded
  10. I wondered how long it woukd take, i wasnt disappointed !
  11. Any pictures? Looking for a similar type of design
  12. Well hello guys! Haven't posted for a good while, seen to be busy with the trees a bit of milling and competing with the dogs. I am.after a nice weighted hunting priest for dispatching game birds. Ideally weighted for the task at hand and of suitable weight and size for a lady. Dont want any massive tool like a policemans truncheon. Lookinh for some nice timber, ideally something exiting but not exotic. Thinking some nice burr oak, rippled or quilted maple or perhaps cankered ash. Who would be able to supply such an item and what type of costing please? Whilst this would be a xmas present it needs to be made sooner rather than later. Thanks Simon
  13. Hi Chris I might be looking for a piece of wood that is stabilised for use on my gun stock as an extension piece. When finishing, how does the material take oil as a finish and is possible to buff to a high gloss? Could you message me a contact number please? Is Bog Oak also suitable?
  14. Not being rude, what is your previous saw experience?
  15. Depending wherein Kent, could try copford sawmills in Horam.east sussex
  16. The older saws do have proper compression, my 090 in my picture i have to almost pull my arm out of its socket even with the decomp pressed in. Almost need to sneak up on it and catch it unaware, then she howls lovely
  17. Cherry is a beautiful wood to mill, ice and easy and gives excellent looking boards. That too was my first milling adventure:biggrin:
  18. I have an 056 i bought solely for milling use, a good eBay price was had when prices where keen. I used it to mill a few butts then the tensioner broke. Trying to understand one was like hens teeth and eventually found one off a kind gentleman on here. That as three years ago and still not fixed. A great torquey saw but so slow. Hence why it where it is, on the shelf waiting to be fixed! I was milling some 20" cedar last week and gave the 461 a stint with the 36" bar on and it was great. Ultimately engine size will dictate how big you want to mill, but big boards are a pin in the arse! But look good!
  19. The question to ask really is can you buy another saw for forty notes? Probably not, so just buy the part.
  20. Thanks, so almost double in quantity at 46.8cu \1300= £36 cu? Having a brain malfunction:confused1:
  21. A customer had 26T @£1300 delivered last year and converted the wood himself to firewood. This year he is not so keen on doing so again due to time and his wife's poor health. What is the rough cubic conversation of that 26T as he wants a price for the equivalent I have already split and so wants to know the costings of this route. Tia
  22. 076 all day long. Once you start milling with a 50"+ bar there is alot of variables to cause you problems, and that some serious size timber to plank as well!
  23. 076 all day long ago, Mick Dempsey had one for sale on here, is that his?
