  1. Unfortunately I don't really ideally want to go the PTO route, as once this possibility has finished I'd ideally like something self powered.
  2. Burns well ?
  3. Made enquiries today on the Japa 305, unfortunately well out of budget at 12k. Unless I can find a sh oone. Still a few thoughts going on in my head currently, a few calls to make to see if this is worth my while doing.
  4. Thanks for the input this far. Have been googling around this afternoon, watching YouTube videos. Some of the machines look very similar, guessing just rebranded. Looking around looks like I missed a Woodlands mill processor last year at good money ?
  5. Larger diameter stuff can be tricky, but majority of poles are a dream to split, even with an axe!
  6. Whilst I know wood snobbery exists? What are your thoughts as fuel generally? It's been likened to the poor mans oak, has the renowned annoyance of spitting but is a by product of mature coppice and cheap. I've burnt it in the past myself and currently have some in my wood burner which hasn't spat or exploded once. a few years ago meet an old boy 80+ who worked the woods as did his father before him and he suggested that the only way to avoid spitting chestnut was to use the standing dead trees. What is your thoughts in mixing in with other better woods. I've never had a problem as I say.
  7. That's encouraging. The farm has a big telehandler onsite all day, mostly un occupied after the cows have been fed so could load the grab and slide them straight off. Like anything many hands make light work. I see it as something I can do in my own hopefully if it works out.
  8. No looking at arb rings, as I'll break them down on my other machine..this wood be purely for pole lengths 4-8/10" stuff. Not worried about road towing as it can go on to the site via trailer. Not ideally looking for sawing stuff sue to the diameter of materials so thinking this is the better route. What is the general output of that type of machine do you think with everything just right ?
  9. Thanks for the replies gentlemen. I've also been looking at videos this morning of the Woodlands mill processor. It appears a nice little tool and not dissimilar to newer variants. And appear to come in the price bracket and with a nice warranty.
  10. I have owned a small splitter from a well known chinese branded machine and have been thoroughly impressed over the time I've used it, and only recently had to replace a few components. Its served me well and earnt money. I may have an opportunity to have or get alot of Ash and thinnings for next to nothing and looking at potential ways to earn from it. I dont have a big budget by any means and see it as a short term investment. Cutting and splitting the material I can get and then selling the machine once the task is completed possibly. Ideally looking for one man operator machine with belt to load direct to vehicle. Rock machinery... I see have a new processor 20T version and also seen the japa 305. I know rock is not the favourite brand but it may suit my needs, but at that cos what others should I be considering? Does anyone know the cost of the japa? Or other options? Could be second hand but the budget certainly no higher that 6.5k. Is it even a good time to be thinking about logs given the new legislation? All my logs have been barn dried so it's not a fast return but that doesn't bother me. Perhaps I should even forget the idea! Any input welcome
  11. Do you have any product names for this setup? Or does anyone else have suggestions please?
  12. Fake saw, twice as nasty as soft as poop!!
  13. That must of been for the 1/2" boat chain version ?
  14. Evening Squire! Was talking about the good old days the other day!!! Do they not come up over your way for sale?
  15. Just love them, drop me a message if your interested in selling.
  16. Aye, thought I'd forgotten my login details but had to think hard what they where ?

Well hello my old friends, Long time ago since I last posted!! I am looking at adding a further unit to my setup, does anyone have one they are looking to part with?
  18. I can confirm that the weights stated are plenty adequate enough for dispatching of game and the beauty of the implements hasn't gone unnoticed with the other beaters!
  19. Not to panic yet, but thanks for tge offer. Just pricing things up. Could that sort of block be changed out for a joystick type control?
  20. Ok thanks. So i coukd be done relatively easily. Drybollox are new to me! I still climb with a prussik! What sort of costs do you think? Thanks
  21. Not sure where to ask buy here seems a start. Looking at getting a small loading machine for use in the yard, jobs to include lifting log bags, pushing fire in etc. Anf possible on site use. The machines i have wittled down. However one i have spotted only has two leavers, boom up n down and one for bucket action. If i was looking at a log grab or muck forks can an additional service be added to the machine for that purpose sn2d ram? It runs a 4cyl diesel donkey.
  22. Rabbits are easier than birds for quick dispatch, the priests ive made are 190 and 200gms. Looking online it seems an average weight.
  23. @Rhystree May i ask how much the fabrication was for the forks please. Ta
