  1. Still not convinced on sycamore myself, the inclusion on the first pictures and the roundness of the knot look poplar to me. Either way, it's wood
  2. Oh yeah, had forgotten about that:biggrin:
  3. Details on there website. If you phone them, ask for Anne and tell her Simon parsons sent you
  4. Not sure where you get your bits from, but a very good friend sells this kind of stuff. Have a butchers -http://www.gpsagencies.co.uk
  5. What is huskys equivalent to my 090? Don't see one, so as I see it it wins outright! Love breaking the bad girl out when needed, nothing comes close to the purr of 137cc Aspen running saw
  6. Looks like one of poplar family to me.
  7. Nice boards. Cherry is one of the easier woods to mill along with Yew I find
  8. Good use of wedges Looks like a beaver knawed at the base of that big log
  9. Where has it been stored? Most wood dry barn stored would be around 15-18% MC I would of thought. Majority of kilned internal wood is 10% or lower. Be interesting on a report in the coming months. Great looking table though.
  10. Not much burr from what I can see, more like a unusal bark growth than burr. Be interesting to see the final product.
  11. What for? I am guessing you haven't used an 070 or 090, but I can assure you these two beleive it or not are the safest saws I have used. And whilst no expert in chainbreak design, I a not even sure if you would be able to stop the chain without excessive engineering, especially on the 090.
  12. Thanks, just what I was looking for!
  13. Yes indeed, just been through his old posts, also doesn't slackbladder do this type of thing? I've got some burr Oak boards, which have dried to quickly and have checking accros the surface and just thinking if I should leave natural when finished or have a contrasting element embedded
  14. Thanks, now we're talking! Any pictures?
  15. Thanks Ian, seems spell checker has worked is magic on my other post!
  16. Not sure if that is correct, but think there was a thread or images posted of the best way to achieve flecks in to cracked wood, either sparkly or coloured. Does anyone know what I mean, has done it got some pictures or how good please? Thanks
  17. In Horsham, have a selection of nice Yew, spalted beech, cherry. Happy to show you if interested. No Oak.
  18. As noted above, felling date or falling over date has no bearing what so ever on its dryness, so a 2" thick slab is 2 years natural air drying etc. Etc.
  19. Oak ideally needs to be stored correctly for about a inch per year thickness. Then kilning to bring the MC down in a slow manner.bringing any month old green wood in the house as you have found will move a food degree.
