  1. Hi - we have a free standing clearview stove - with twin walled stainless steel steel stove pipe . We want to change it for black pipe - and then fell over when we got the quote! Can they be spray painted? How ? Is there someone who will do it ( we are in the North West). As much help appreciated. Stew
  2. Sorry missed out question- it’s a herald hunter- with an integrated back boiler . Can we use it as a room heater only - is there a safe way to do this?
  3. Help regarding installation. We have a ‘ heavy’ clear view- 12kw stove that we want to put free standing in our soon to be converted barn . The barn is on the floor above the garage .The floor where the stove is going to sit has new 6 x2 rafters and a central RSJ and chipboard t and g boards ( 1 inch thick). We want to put the stove in the corner, but raise the corner to make a plinth, sit a slate hearth on it - obviously will get a HETAS engineer to install . I want to raise the plinth ( triangle shaped) say 10 inches from the floor . My thoughts were to put say breeze blocks on the floor - then the slate hearth and front up the front with ceramic tiles. Sorry for massive design/ details - but what are peoples thoughts? Do I need to reinforce the rafter below? What about block underneath? - don’t want to make 4x2 box ?? Any ideas- help! Stew
  4. Just seen this for sale for £625- days it’s 12kw- anyone know it’s make and is it worth it? any information greatly appreciated Stee
  5. Any body know what this stove is - sitting on a mates garage - needs a new baffle plate/ glass rope etc etc - is it worth the effort- he wants £100. cheers
  6. Hi - hope someone can help on this. We have moved to a lovely property in the Lakes and had lots of conifers -ash etc professionally cut down- I’ve been chopping these and storing. Appreciate they won’t be seasoned till next winter. Thinking about this winter- we have stuff fallen and a large oak branch that has broken off- don’t know how long all this has been on floor. Is it a case of checking when my moisture meter arrives- or buy some seasoned stuff- which I really don’t want to- see photos
  7. Any one know what make and model this beast is? It’s in great condition with a back boiler and running 5 radiators. Taking it out - anyone know it’s second hand value??
  8. Ps it has a mesh( metal) filter - which I have cleaned.
  9. Cheers mate. Will do. What has got me thinking is that I can’t ever remember having the issue prior to serving it. I had an issue with leaking fuel- fuel pipe worn out- but they said it had water in fuel?? Did notice that it runs rich- what I mean is that when idling the chain runs around bar- is this usual? Hope this can help you further- but many thanks for your input so far! Where are you based as a matter of interest? Cheers again- it’s such a powerful saw- and has served me well to date- don’t want to send it to the saw shop in heaven just yet!
  10. Many thanks- yes it’s old- but not massive use. The problem is getting worse. . Just had it serviced and it needed a new fuel line- but got a new spark plug etc. Does not cut out when rev up. But if it stalls on idle - or I turn it off, even after 1 or 2 mins can’t re restart it for 10 mins - then with choke? Any ideas on getting compression sorted?
  11. I have a very old - but great cutting saw- starts first or second time on the choke start. Cuts great. But if it stalls or a stop for re fuel- can I get it to start warm!! Never. Have to wait 20 minutes- and start on choke. New plug- clean filter- new fuel. Any thoughts ideas really appreciated! Stew
  12. Can anyone help with this- just moved into an old derelict house in the south lakes- anyone know what this make model is? Any good. What is the dial devise on the side?
