Cc or hp

I have been asking various people who i consider to be my superiors this question and i am struggling to get a sensible answer! I am not a mechanically minded person so this sort of thing is out of my comfort zone. when buying a saw and you have 2 competitors so closely matched one has a slightly higher cc but the other has slightly higher horsepower, what are the advantages to both. I suppose what i am asking is what is hp and what is cc at the end of the day, please don't laugh at my ignorance
  3.

thank you steve,

will have a think about what i want to do and let you know, going to give the saw a good run first and see what i think to it before i start spending on it, but thanks for the quote. tom

  4.
Hi Tom, I have done one 338 before, strange tune, it felt like it needed an ignition timing mod bit never did it. There are things I can do, they aren't the easiest saws to work on. You may find a simple muffler mod would be cheapest and easiest mod. My cost will be circa £120 -£150 for a full port, the whole saw needs pulling apart to do this. If you are interested, PM me. Cheers Steve

Hi Spud, i have just bought a 338xpt and a friend has recomended that i get in touch with you about having it ported and modded. please can you explain to me what this entails and also what the benifits are of doing it? i have also been told you are the best person to do it if i decide to have it done so can you quote me a price too please.

kind regards Tom

  6. Hi all looking to invest in a pole /long reach hedge trimmer, which camp should i be looking in? I have used a stihl one but never the husky, and i find the stihl one to be very good to cut with and robust, but a pig to start and the vibrations are horrific, and they seem like the pole saws to be awkward when it comes to fuelling, awkward to remove the cap the have a tenancy to cockle over when you depress the fuel can in to them?!?!? so any suggestions please:thumbup:
  7. first question where are you? then how much do you want cause it sounds like it is what i am after can you put me some pics up please?
  8. lol you guys make me laugh i have already done the thread about whether to get a landy or not and i have decided to so now what i want is info on people who do the conversions! for those saying about the weight of chip i can "legally" carry, now i am ready to be proven completely wrong on this but the difference in weight between a landy transit l200 iveco isuzu tippers all rated to 3.5t is minimal, by the time each of those trucks is rigged up ready to use in the manor i require they are all going to weigh just over 2t! or have i got it massively wrong, i do profess to knowing nothing about this so tell me all
  9. i am going to be getting a landy 110 to convert to a tipping truck, do any of you guys know anyone near lincolnshire what does conversions? the plan... extend chassis to 130 tool storage behind cab then tipper put the hi cap springs on it to increase the gross v.weight and put a box for storage over cab. bring on the fun:thumbup:
  10. already checked and then changed the starter coil and now its sparking like a good one, had the exhaust off and checked the piston too and its all nice and shiny through there too so i think i'll try a new carb see if that changes things! thanks guys love the experience and knowledge this forum brings to idiots like me:wink:
  11. it only does it once it gets hot, after about 5 mins of use

    395xp

oh yeah that is such a sweet sound
  13. i am interested to hear about the outcome of this as i have a 346xpg and it does the same, cuts out inbetween cuts unless you keep reving it and mine isn't autotune so i dialed up the idle speed and it still does it! just wondering do you then struggle to strike your saw up till it has cooled down?

    395xp

i have one on a 36" 3/8 chain and its an absolute belter i love it strikes up first pull everytime and it chews through wood like a pirana through flesh. its more comfortable than the stihl equal and smoother imo
  15.
It most certainly is mate
