  9. my dad sharpens mine for me, as he is a precision engineer after all. and it costs me £10 a set mine are hollow ground, not flat ground.
  10. well, finally got around to talking to my neighbour whose tree blew over a few years back and we tidied. thought I should ask him about milling it up its 4.6ft around the middle, though I am guessing a touch wider at the butt though at some point (no names mentioned (not me) took a slab of burr off the side. animal . 20ft long is the total length. currently propped up off the ground by the rhode it fell on and a large log we wedged under to stop it moving whilst we where cutting. so, thoughts on how to go about this bad boy

  14. If u search 070 on ebay, there is a real one for sale just below. Ms720 is the current version only available in venezuala, brazil etc. That however is not an ms720 nor a 070 but Hutzl copy There is a lenghty thread on arbtalk from b4 about these

  16. I might of thought this through a little more before buying such a machine, perhaps this is why there are no big mobile saw mills!!! Just sayin
  17. Aggreed. Bought some gorrilla glue water proof stuff for my plugs on some benches. Great stuff, swells and seals and well, i presume it sticks like gorrilla snot As for bent steamed stuff, cant help i am afraid
  18. a shiny new 13mm ratchet ring spanner for that awkward nut on the end of height adjusting poles on the mill.
  19. whilst the tree is growing, but under fungal attack? or when the tree is down, fallen timber or logged? how long does it take to get going? I have a customer who had two monstrous beech trees felled (not by me luckily) he has given me the go ahead to mill some sections. the trees where heavily rotted around the basal area, hence there demise. should I wait a while for the spalting process, or open up a cut up the trunk and have a look in? thanx, Simon
  20. you can use a micro wave. google be your friend :-)
  21. thanks, where did my maths go wrong? and my man was after £5 a ft? could it be our "southern prices" why he is looking for that, or some other variation?
  22. 35! this is in the round still, not sawn. so, lets see. 96" x 54 x 54 =279936 / 1728 =162 cubic feet @ 35 = £5670 think my maths are out somewhere here any advances on my math must be the heat getting to me
  23. what is the going rate for cedar (atlas I think) per cubic ft. might have lump 4.5ftx8ft thanks, Simon
  24. my 064 does this very occasionally. I just hold on tighter and pull harder. I presume we are talking about the same thing here I've not yet experienced this on my 090av. that would probably break my shoulder s
