  3. I suppose with a bigger bar you can adjust its depth as needed. you say about not using the nose of the bar. if quarter sawing your log, how can you avoid this. is that a dumb question or am I being thick. Robs video shows using full bar depth, so he must be using the tip. no? [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SzVhTvU4FCE]Quarter sawing using chainsaw mill part 2 - YouTube[/ame]

  8. Some of that, but main reason is so the saw does not bog down when cutting. less cutters means less stress on the saw so it can maintain cutting even on long bars. Just takes longer as you have got less teeth
  9. Yes. Too wet. Now leave it alone!!!!!!
  10. Waste of time milling at tbe moment. You will loose more boards than u will probably get to keep. I know your keen, but wait till the right conditions allow for milling and stacking.

  22. my dad sharpens mine for me, as he is a precision engineer after all. and it costs me £10 a set mine are hollow ground, not flat ground.
  23. well, finally got around to talking to my neighbour whose tree blew over a few years back and we tidied. thought I should ask him about milling it up its 4.6ft around the middle, though I am guessing a touch wider at the butt though at some point (no names mentioned (not me) took a slab of burr off the side. animal . 20ft long is the total length. currently propped up off the ground by the rhode it fell on and a large log we wedged under to stop it moving whilst we where cutting. so, thoughts on how to go about this bad boy
  24. Looks good Rob The big table n bench. The top, middle plank halved?
