  1. I filled my barn with timber last year for sale for this winter with the wood I get from tree work, as it will be my first year in selling firewood this winter I was wondering is there away a could get a rough calculation on how many ton bags of firewood I will sell. I presume the best way is to measure is the length x the width x the height to get the square meter of the barn and the same with bags, then divide the square meter size of the barn by the size of the square meter bags size and this should give me a approximate calculation. Is this correct or is there a alternative way. Then Once I've sold a barn full I will no for next year what the true figure will be.
  2. Cheers all, so great in put at the moment. I'm loading with tractor with loading forks so no issue with putting them on the truck or trailer. If I I do barrow bags I I can do 9 bags on there side stacked 3 high by 3wide at a push with strapping down, ( but I don't like doing this, and it has to be a dark night) I worked it out that 3 barrow bags = 1 ton builders bag. I have been tempted to try a landy, but they look like a old been can and you wouldn't really wanna go done south or away on your holls it. ( I can see the mrs face now if I suggested that.)
  3. Morning all this though has been playing on my mind for awhile. I'm currently running a 2005 ford ranger double cab to deliver bags of logs and pull a 10ft trailer and be used for Arb work and going out any were if need be in it. I can get 2 bags on the back of the truck with the tail gate down on small delivers pull them off instead of luging the big trailer round. I was wondering if anyone has had expense with other trucks to see if they can get more than 2 bags on the back of there trucks, and if so what are they.

  6. <p>Picked up you query re linking wet stove to Central heating system. I have combined systems operational in two houses and am willing to discuss. I am an enthusiastic amateur with no formal qualifications but put my first system in in 1978 and it has never leaked or air locked! Went on an oil burner course some years ago and the tutor advised that the reason you cannot find formal recommendations on how to combine the two is because nobody is prepared to put their signature to any design. I came up with my own using nothing more sophticated than a £10 pipe thermostat and I haven't had an oil refill for over 6 years. Phone me some evening after Thurs 12 Feb on 02892673848 when I get back from my travels. Regards - Rodney</p>

  8. Just take pallets with you when You need them, there free from many places and when there nakard toss them on the bonfire. Or also get a single bed mattress out off a skip and keep it in the garage and unleash it when it's needed. This is a good one I use this every so often I find it tends to work best when you know someone has died in that bed previously.

  10. Hi all just wondered if any off you have had your heating systems fitted to work with a wood burner aswell. I have a 30year old house with a conventional heating system ( header tank in loft, copper storage tank in airing cupboard, small boiler in kitchen.) I had a stovax wood burner installed 3 years ago, but have decided now that I would like to change the stove for a larger one with a back boiler. I would like to have the stove fitted into the heating system so it heats the water in the tank and radiators in the bedrooms when the fire is lite, but when we are out and no fire lite or up to temp and summer months the heating system trips into the gas boiler to heat the water and house. With being a Tree Surgion I have a endless supply of firewood, so would hope to reep the cost back with a number of years. Have any of you guys had this system fitted and if so any ideas were to look and the price range to be looking at. Thanks Doug

I was wondering if there is any tip sites that any of you guys use close to the post code of the job. Post code: HP235RE. Tring Any help would be great full. Regards Doug
  14. That's great guys think I will be edging more towards the ms460 /461 now . I no you can run a 20/25" bar on a ms660 but i was thinking its a bit over kill and yeehaa, when this saw could be saved for more larger works. I was looking at the 300 range to see if any thing was able for the 20/25" bar weight but was more light weight, especially when dangling the saw on the chog, but if it's the 460/461 that's what it will have to be.
