  1. I started on 01/01/2000 hard to find anyone sober apart from me! As its been said: Cards in News Agents / Post Office windows in the areas you "would like to work" means a ride round but I found it was worth it. Cards in posh Garden Centres if they allow them....free or small donation in the charity box helps. The wives who live in the big houses shop there. Make a Company Web Site, suitable email address up. Sweat Shirt with Company Name on Nice Portfolio/book showing types of work you do, insurance etc for when your phone starts ringing. The rest you have already done, good luck in your new venture.
  2. As its just light branches on the roof and obsticles below, I personally would take it to bits, one "branch" at a time from the bottom. Days work at a leisurely pace, but then I'm an old fella.
  3. Apart from stock fencing a wood this summer most of my fence jobs are repairs due to storm damage Oct-Mar so usually do most of the fencing during the winter months!
  4. Wow thats a big one, never had to do anything that size but have done a few domestics. One had "trunks" as big as your am/leg growing 4-6ft vertically on the top. Luckily was able to park the truck next to it and drive along. Did surprise me when I got to the tip and the waste weighed in at 1/4 ton.
  5. ***Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year*** Thanks for all the posts in 2013 you can always learn a lot on here
  6. Is that the normal ram position for a transit sort of cantiliver action? mine just goes up 4 sections
  7. My local tractor supplier has several Husky's on display. Has this one has been out for some time? couple of yrs? its a lot bigger in real life that that photo.
  8. Yes I have used V Power Diesel in my Transit Tipper, ran smoother, quieter, better overtaking acceleration, takes a couple of tanks to show difference from normal. However went for veg oil in the end 20% mix, same result.
  9. I have always rented an Industrial unit and lived apart from work in Berkshire and now Sussex. However! just moved into a house with yard and 4 outbuildings, in the process of moving everything home. Def good excuse for a sort out of stuff I never use. Mrs Groundie has promissed tea and bacon sandwiches if I am out in the workshop so I guess things might be looking up. Funny my fencing need looking at as well, little job for this weekend.
  10. Is Scots Pine ok? I felled a big one the other day, now cut into logs, each log is approx 16"" diameter and 16"" length. I could drop a few (its a small van) lol off for you? as I go past your area most Tuesdays
  11. I'll have a portion of 1,2,8 please with fried rice. I thought we all had to "go for it" and get the job done, maybe thats just the way I work, ALONE! but I agree with Stubby as I too am 61 its a 3pm finish
  12. In Sussex at Handcross on the A23 they are widening the dual carriageway, will be finished Sept 2014, Major roadworks! 40MPh Average Speed Limit. They have an electronic sign which informs you that last week 186 drivers were prosecuted for exceeding the limit. Think of all that lovely money at £60 per time per week! Considering theres another 52 odd weeks to go.
  13. A very sharp Axe for me unless I am using a "wood grenade", mind you a sledge is then the prefered weapon of coice.

  16. After main dealer servicing and prices.... I now have mine looked after by a local guy he has "Motor Engineer" after his name on his rubber stamp, enough said. Oh and a free courtsey car, not the £15 per day my Main Dealer wanted.
  17. They run a good hire shop near Cowfold, go past them twice a week, very helpful.
  18. When I was at Berks Collage of Agriculture doing my PA1 PA6A the instructor was telling us they ran grave digging courses, apparently the fastest digger in the country was a woman who lived near Oxford.....dug 8 graves in a day. (why do I retain all this knowledge I don't know)
  19. Arbrep Services Arbrep Services - Woodchipper Parts, Repairs and Maintenance - Hampshire UK Redwoods Welcome to Redwood UK for your professional woodchippers Hope you have a lot of fun with it!
  20. Its the original 2004 Battery so maybe times up on it. Anyway I drove to Halfords ( I'm worried now hahah) and the nice young man offered to fit it for me, decided against that and took the van home home for a bath, time for me to get my marigolds on. Must have gone pop when it was parked, never heard a thing.
  21. There is The Wood Centre & Composting Facility on the A22 in between Halland and Eastbourne, at a place called Whitesmith.

  25. I use a 20/50 every week mowing large estates, we do use a Kodiak 450 quad for pulling the Jensen 521 about off road, just manages that. Have also used a C800 at another site with trailer to move a compost heap so heavy stuff, that seemed to go ok, just goes a bit slow, can't be helped I guess.
