  1. We use 15/40 in our 300tdi's Personally I would dump it out as soon as you can and change the filter, you aren't looking at a great expense. Lesson to be learnt "never mess with the oil drums" I once put chain oil in a brake fluid container when I was young and stupid, yep you guessed it
  2. Haha that has to be a Gardner engine I looked at a mickey mouse foden last year with a 150 Gardner when it was started we had to get out of the barn until all the smoke cleared about 10 mins later Lovely lumps once warmed up
  3. Or a replacement head at any point ?
  4. A standard contract with BOC is an excellent way to waste a fair bit of money every year imo unless you do a lot of welding or use other gases, there are now buy-able bottles with argoshield equivalent, but I like BOC gases so As an alternative there is this from BOC Volkzone offer probably best to go straight to the last page. Although the deal is for argoshield light (unless they finally changed it) you can get away with using it on heavy without problems.
  5. cheers for that, I will get it all ordered tomorrow. I'm not worried about it being too hard, if the truck isn't loaded it will always have the crane trailer on it which is a bit nose heavy so should be ok.
  6. Do you have the britpart kit britpart
  7. Anyone running bearmach hd 130 rear springs ?, when I rebuilt the 130 I put all new genuine springs and assisters on but took it out loaded today and it's pretty saggy on the back end. Am thinking of fitting bearmach hd springs and air assisters
  8. get the mag sheets covered in a vinyl similar to the colour they are going on and then the signage on that, doesn't look too bad done that way
  9. That opens a whole can of worms imo So customer has both me and subby price job, as far as the customer knows we are 2 completely different firms, I come over as more professional than the subby so the customer is happy to pay a little extra, then customer ends up with job being done by the cheaper subby but at the more expensive price, I see problems with that. It's pretty simple for me, if subby wants permanent signage and roll up in signed vehicle to my jobs, then I will find myself another subby.
  10. Everything came from service metals in Braintree, they were really helpful, all the alloy raves and sides were cut to size by them.
  11. personally I wouldn't deal with you if you turned up with your name on my job, looks unprofessional on my companies part imo, sort of as if I aren't professional enough to to the job.
  12. dragging this thread back up, here is what I built. Just mudguards, rope eyes and possibly gantry (depends how much weight I have left to spare) to sort and then get some paint on all of it.

  15. similar thing, I put down something dry, kneel down on it then clamp the saw between my legs and sharpen, have done it that way since I started. Guess I'm in better shape than I thought then
  16. But that does and doesn't help, another problem with rangers is that when you put them in low range it automatically puts the front diff lock in which is fine if you are going in a straight line. I would happily swap my 09 plate for an earlier immaculate one as I find towing and delivering all day with it is hard work, hence I now use the landies instead for most of the towing work.
  17. Earlier rangers (pre 06 I think) are real workhorses, but after that the gear ratio's are insane, once rolling at full towing capacity they are ok but it's the getting it rolling that's the problem, and as for reverse fully loaded towing forget it in high range and even in low range it's a joke. It's easy to tell if it's the high ratio box stick it in reverse and if it pins you to the windscreen leave it well alone Goes to prove ford do bugger all serious testing of their trucks anymore.
  18. Isn't that the saw that apparently has a problem with blades cracking ? i'm sure someone on here has used one and had problems with the blades.
  19. Hypnosis would probably help with the stress it is causing you, you could find decent hypnotherapist and get him to teach you self hypnosis, tbh you can teach yourself if you want to, a good one will teach you in one session so it's not expensive anyway, when I had all my stomach troubles I tried anything and everything and although hypnosis didn't help with the problem it certainly helped with the stress the whole situation was causing. Some decent relaxation cd's and a quiet dark room is a good start.
  20. It has huge potential but not as a serious load carrying truck. I might be going over old ground here but would it need an O licence if it was uprated, surely it's under a dual purpose vehicle ?
  21. we had problems with the rubber suspension units being too firm when empty making everything jump all over the floor so stuck with springs, but ifor do appear to be having some quality issues of late, when we renew we will be looking elsewhere. That brian james does look very nice though

  23. I would be interested depending on where you are.
  24. 130 are generally 3500kg but check the plate as there are some at 3050kg, 110 are generally 3050kg unless you find a heavy duty one or uprate it to 3500kg, personally I would go for a 130 as the extra wheelbase length and capacity means a decent size with little overhang, but they are harder to find decent second hand ones. Really ? I have an ifor tri axle and it virtually puts me through the screen when I pull up sharp especially when loaded, and my twin axle isn't exactly shabby at stopping. The only time my backside grabs the seat is if it's icy A decently setup trailer will not need air brakes.
  25. Well just the dropsides to go and mine is done rather pleased as I have exactly what I wanted, and being pretty fussy doing it myself was probably the way to go.
