  1. Agreed regarding forward approach. If they already know don't wait for them to come to you, get down the Council face to face in private and explain your oversight. If no one is there leave your card and don't turn up in your work gear. If TO is reading this hopefully he read the the bit about the trees condition.
  2. It's not your job to educate, but make money. The people that pay your bills only care about £'s not wether it's sustainable, environmentaly friendly, or what else. You'll do your head in, move on.
  3. That's the thing about the letter of the law if it ain't wrote daan proper it's bol10cks. Question it! Your brake's were working fine. How many handbrakes do you have? The lever to operate was working and so were your brakes presumably. The cable was fine it just wasn't attached, whether you didn't attach it or someone tried to dettach it who knows it's behind you out of sight.
  4. If their tone was as blunt as that or not those exact words, they can't think very much of your mutual friend. Honesty from the start with a budget would have avoided time wasting. Would I work for them if they came back? Depends what mood I'm in, my price would not include a mates rate any more as they clearly aren't.
  5. What would it take for the cemetery owners to move the stones? They have to be repositioned anyway and could all be done on the same day.
  6. Only if you were doing gardening. You are doing work he can't, by doing a good job makes him look good as well boosting his rep'. Do you get 10% for that? It's up to you wether you give someone cash, a slab of beer, recommendations, or just a thank you and boost their rep'. There's no right or wrong just don't mug yourself.
  7. Not much more than a Pinto re SWL then there is the blue ISC or the shiny one with leaves or something on it.
  8. "Good work position is everything". That can be with or without lanyard, you can leg lock and use your bod' to get a good position it's just making sure you don't involuntarily come away from it uncontrolled. If you can strop in that's fine but don't take that as you can wave sharp tools around any safer! Pay attention to what you are on, where your ropes are, what you are anchoring to, and how you route your pruning gear to and away from the cut. You risk assess every decision you make in a second if that decision is put your strop round don't argue with yourself.
  9. First of all I don't like seeing dumb creatures injured Second of all it's not funny to laugh at chimps dressed up as humans any more Third thing that was well funny Fourth and last of all have you got any more
  10. Haven't used a decompression button since getting the starter wrenched from my fingers 3 times on a cold winter morning and not regaining the feeling all day.
  11. For God sake man this is England! We will not talk about anything as dirty as sex or money. It's embarrassing enough asking how much something is.

  13. Interesting to see how many people use a floating anchor on base tie drt. It seems a lot of people stigmatise it's pit falls to srt. One problem with lowering a casualty could be getting them hung up or the rescue knot getting stuck while travelling up the tree.
  14. My preference is to tie in at the top. I still use my pulley saver just because I have it and the pulley helps with friction when retrieving. I only work off a base tie if I have got my top anchor from the ground (rare), or am up and down. It's too darned bouncy! Plus if my climbing system relies on someone else's vigilance as much as mine I'm not too happy with that.
  15. I've been using the "Hitchhiker" for over a year. After having a go on a mates "Hitch climber" set up SRT I decided to get a RW then a few months later a "Lock Jack" and it seems really smooth with the RW on a single line...so far.
  16. Any one else using Lockjack Sport and Rope Wrench or any other mechanical + wrench?
  17. Bit like climbing above your anchor point or using a topy one handed😄👮
  18. The landlord also bars those undesirable customers in order to keep his business attractive and popular.
  19. Either trawl through eBay for weeks to find a good ms200t (presumably there are some rubbish ones as well) with no warranty, or save your time walk down to a dealer and buy an underpowered (compared to old models) ms201t that is reliable. Can't please everybody.
  20. I agree with the reminiscing, the 200t had it's problems as well that's why I got the 201t. It's never stalled on me or failed to pick up rev's without being tweaked every 5 mins😊
  21. Don't really see the handbrake being a deal breaker. When I had an unbraked 750kg machine it got chained to the van (in case it bailed) when hitched up or chocked on the rare occasion it was taken off.
  22. Always good to check what you're covered for as well. Going through services will be costly on your pocket and you will be surprised how many people will find out your discrepancy.
