    Cringe!!!

Brilliant. No PPE but he wears some gloves still each to their own I guess. I wonder how much the fugees were getting a day?😆
  2. For the majority of rigging I use 12mm English braid with eye and long sling choked with a half hitch. A Pinto and 30kn sling with steel crab as a pin for crane and one for a redirect if needed. If I have a stem to take down I go to 16mm stable braid and yellow ISC block depending on size otherwise I just use the Pinto spliced onto a long tail. I rig off of the Stein 3000 bollard but wish I went for the 2000 in hindsight. A friend of mine has the GCRS I would buy one if I had more use for it because it is a brilliant piece of kit.
  3. Good point re climbers position. Because we don't have any means of weighing what we lower our experience counts for a lot and a safety factor gives us a more than adequate margin. Regarding climbers experience of the actual lowering part experiment with cuts and how your groundy lowers. The calculations and paperwork are great I'm just glad I knew what I did back then from the 10 week course lowering off pegs and wraps around the stem.
  4. I am all in favour of a helmet fan. I am fed up of waiting until I get on the ground to stuff a blower down my trousers to cool off.
  5. The New England Hi Vee is a good call. I remember that from my prussic days.
  6. Hello mate, if all you want to do is get in and out of the tree then the world is your lobster with regard to rope choice.
  7. When I say to my good lady I am just popping down the road for an hour in reality I have travel time, extra's and finishing up etc it all adds up you know.
  8. From the picture I make of it, 2x3 men 2 grab £1900 and don't forget the 1m deep pile of old foliage and crap.
  9. Put a spike in the line so it hits the pulley, tie off then pull the spike out. No danger of the end running back up to the pulley.
  10. If the rope has a separate inner core a shackle will soon knacker it as it would using natural forks in the tree to run the rigging line. What would the legal outcome be if you were using the natural fork method and something went tits up?
  11. Slings and carabiners are sold for the purpose of lifting and lowering. The only grey area is the shackle that is used in many configurations especially sailing but I don't see that as a problem so long as the MBS is high enough. The only issue I can think of is heat generation in the steel on very heavy pieces acting as a hot knife.
  12. Hello mate. You will probably find that ideal for a lanyard re eye to eye and pulley config'. You don't really want to go smaller than 750 from my constantly experimenting experience.
  13. You will need to custom make your own short tether the shorter the better. I found it jerky and had to unload the rope to get the cam to release. Get a Hitch Hiker.
  14. You got there in the end.
  15. Fair enough it may say in your quote about risings belonging to client. If you ruin his £20k landscaped front drive dropping them back off then you face prosecution. Make payment clear in your terms. I like the 50% up front, how many other trades do this.
  16. He hasn't priced them yet.

Hello mate. I think the sigh was because us oldies have heard it all before. I know you think that 2 years is a lot but really you've just broken into it. You think you're good now just wait a few more years. Push your luck and open some dialogue with your boss sell yourself. You are worth what you are worth to your employer that goes for self employeds as well. Good luck.
  20. I know the feeling mate, some news needs to be delivered by text. At the moment a 2 man 1 day job is 1 man 2 days for me. I can't be bothered relying on other people at the moment!
  21. Sir. I was not aware that my remark was directed towards the enquirer. No offence was intended to any parties by my jovial remark neither was there any offence taken at your misinterpretation. Indeed there is a wealth of vocabulary that can be used to describe many things, my choice of word used (deliberately misspelt) is valid for the condition of the trees in question. Agreed there is also more than one course of action that can be taken. In my professional opinion. The trees in question appear to have been pruned in a harsh manner not in accordance with any recommended pruning technique. They may shoot vigorously over the next few years but I believe the enquirer views them now as an eyesore? You could plant a good standard and have 5 years much better growth with less outlay.
