  1. That's not good. Is the stalling anything to do with auto tune? I'd rather have a less powered saw than a saw I can't use because it falls apart. My 201t is underpowered and flimsy. A chunk came of the flimsy filter cover when bringing through a Coni', the handle broke when it tumbled through a hedge for refuelling. The echo beats the Husqybanana at the mo'.
  2. I have heard the Echo 360 bogs down a bit and it has some kind of Rev limiter. The performance is the only unknown factor, I could only find 1 clip on YouTube. One clip said Echo 360 vs Stihl 200t...the bloke was a Tube he just picked them up one by one and reved them.
  3. I reassembled a 200t and got it running. Definitely selling the 201 now! Hearing about the Husqy and lightweight casings puts me off a little. It will occasionally get snagged through Coni's etc, my 201 filter cover got ripped off the other day. It looks and sounds like the Echo has the build but does it have the grunt? The price is also attractive.
  4. Thanks for the replys so far guys to be honest I've had enough of Stihl. The top handle is my bread and butter, for the 201t to be such shite is a bit of a swift kick. I changed my ground saws to Husqy 395 and 560 which are both excellent. I will probably get the Husqy top but want to know more about the build quality from other owners and also more about the Echo saws. Keep em coming please it is much appreciated.
  5. I've had 201T for a year now and am going to replace it because I have had enough of it. When I first used it I thought it sounded like a toy and was under powered which is even worse with a big bar on it. Can I have some people's views on Echo and Husqy top handle please. There will be a 201T on Arbtrader soon!
  6. As people have said there are lots of vid's mainly with just seeing the cuts, take downs and of big trees. Maybe start from the deck with throw bag, setting up system, access, tie in, then moving around the canopy, redirects etc. No music I prefer my iTunes.
  7. Have a look on Youtube, go to some climbing comp's, look out for or ask about any recreational climbs. A few people on here do them now and again. Good luck and don't give up.
  8. I'd go for the longest if you want to sling it round spars. The tail won't get in the way when you use it on short stuff like the multi. That's the reason I got the fimble.
  9. Fimble'. I use mine for exactly the same as you propose. Get a Pinto as well.
  10. By the power of grey skull you can fill a grab lorry with chip in 30mins.
  11. Bouldering is excellent for strength. I have a challenge starting this Saturday 1000 burpees in 7 days. To fit in between work, wife, and kids. The last challenge was 700 chins, 1500 press ups, 7 days.
  12. Nice twist very good.
  13. Why don't we all keep quiet and ignore something that we think looks suspicious. What harm will that do?
  14. When she was on those poles it reminded me of an Oak I climbed this week.
  15. What are your thoughts on wearing non protective climbing boots or approach boots when climbing? My thoughts are: 1. More choice. 2. Better grip. 3. Better feel when placing your feet. 4. Cheaper. A pair of Sportive Boulders have lasted a year. My boots normally last 6 months before the heels crack and disintegrate. For me I prefer approach boots in the tree and on the ground. I understand HSE have their thoughts.
  16. Twist the legs to stiffen them before you put the eyes in the biner. As others have said use the middle hole and try a longer length of cord. Experiment with some different knots. Have fun:thumbup:
  17. That looked like it had a backward lean and a step cut was used. Good effort, better luck next time. I'll score that a 3.
  18. You said it. When you do your site/risk assessment you have the answer.
  19. Tree surgeons turned accountants. I wonder if accountants have a forum to air their woes on?
  20. It seems not many people climb with 2 ropes. The only times I have is on awkward trees maybe the top anchor is well off centre, or the top is very wide. The second line usually moves with me and has several different anchor points along the way. Or I will put a redirect in near me to change the angle and use my strop either on the D's or on the bridge. I did an awkward slippery Sweet Chestnut this year where I had 3 lines in, I could pick my feet up and stay exactly where I was.
  21. It's funny how some people feel insulted because they think they are entitled to heavy discounts on quotes. Then have no problem insulting you when it isn't quite what they expected. Don't work for family or friends.
  22. So Mr Hunt. Had a MEWP provided by his employer to take a tree in poor condition down. He climbed out of the MEWP attached to the tree and MEWP? The tree failed. Was it poor cutting, where was his rope in the cut, why was he still attached to MEWP?! Have I got it all wrong?? Site foreman is responsible. MEWP on site why?? Tree in poor condition yes! Person in charge of job should have said Nooo!! Can I use any more exclamation marks...YEEEESS!!!!
  23. Lock Jack and rope wrench works well. Wouldn't mind trying the Bull dog and Rope runner.
  24. The best place to get a new saw from is the back of a brand new transit van. Amazing customer service, very competitive pricing, and always come back to see how happy you are and can they offer/take anything else.
