Captain Orange and fat man Doyle were in Ernest Does, Esher a couple of months ago. Had a bit of an argument with the work shop manager apparently.
  2. Thanks for the update. I thought the HB20 was 30" and the 2250XP 35". Might be back on for self propelled then?
  3. Hi all, I have a 10 year old ped' Dosko hydrostat' grinder converted to "Multi Tip" and am thinking of chopping it for a "Predator P460" because of it's turn table, slightly more powerful engine and electric drive. Reviews would be appreciated. I have also looked at the "Bandit" equivalent which is slightly heavier, a bit more expensive and nearly the same dimensions as my Dosko. Feedback on usability, servicing and parts would be appreciated from anyone with experience. I'd love a "Bandit 2250XP" just a shame about the width. Thanks
  4. Nice looking tool strop. But the seasoned pro's are asking left or right hand side? I'm off to chop some logs.
  5. Not much point in having insurance if you're going to do what they won't insure you for or even doing a risk assessment. If insurers won't cover you for roping into epicormic then it's MEWP or move onto the next one. Not worth the huge hole in the pocket if something did go wrong.
  6. Good question. I really am not happy with mine because the rope seems to come out as it pleases a bit like the skinny Petzl pantins. In my opinion it needs to have more of a retaining gate and why not a locking device like the CT?
  7. You are probably better off towing the grinder (depending on weight) and a small tipper to get rid of waste. The best scenario would be panel van with tipping trailer but it all depends on weight of grinder really.
  8. A mate of mine base ties for access then ties in at the the top. If base gets cut or top fails he's got a back up. He is known to fluff up the odd rope with a saw so for him this is a good thing.
  9. I knew what the going rate was when I started, worked out what I wanted/needed and there was my rate. I never undercut, my price doesn't go down and I've done alright.
  10. You can run any business you like so long as you apply the formula of; Work out what you want your annual salary to be. Add together ALL your outgoings. Factor in your down time and holiday. Divide the lot by days worked. Don't forget whatever % profit you want your business to grow by. Don't worry about what others charge. In no particular order.
  11. Has the price of Arb trolleys come down? I have been looking at Stein Arbor Trolley and Tree Hog Arbor Trolley but then I saw a product called BTS Hauler at £200 more which looks bomb proof. I'm thinking if one guy can cart probably 5 armfuls of brush at once and bigger bits of timber it's worth it. Feed back from those that own one would be good. Cheers
  12. Covering letter with copy of current licence and the number of your firm of solicitors.
  13. If your helmet is pulled off really hard there is always a chance of snapping your strap and it coming off in the hand. Not sure of any new developments re repairs just rest up and take it easy.
  14. Good idea mine's rare with a peppercorn sauce please.
  15. I shall start with "The big Breakfast", "TFI Friday", "Don't forget your toothbrush", various radio shows, "Ocean Colour Scene".😎
  16. What the diddly is wrong with change so long as it's good. Give Ginge a gosh darned diddly chance...ding dong diddly he ain't even started yet!
  17. When I started on my own four years ago the diary was chocka I worked my arse off for a year squeezing work in where I could. Now I am never more than two weeks ahead of myself. This month has been very quite for me so re designed my logo, website and had a go at Google ad words and Facebook advertising.
  18. Unnecessary profanity. Mrs Miggins is now in intensive care.
  19. I'll leave my climbing line at the last cut come down and make the gob. The climbing line is easily retrieved by pulling the tail and I now only have one back cut to put in near both lines.
  20. You could cross over your side strop which acts as a choker. and helps with stability on thin stems. I generally use a Hitchhiker so my line would be choked against the stem so no real worry about that flipping. I tie in above the rigging point because that's the way I was taught due to all the business that goes on below the block. If you are worried about the block slipping you could always cut a recess in the back of the stem.
  21. Wooooooah. An F bomb? Refer to rule 2.
  22. There used to be loads of good info on here a couple of years ago and lots of good light hearted banter. It's not as free flowing as it was which is a shame and probably why you don't see people on here that used to post regularly on other forums more often now. That's not meant to upset any body but it seems a good opportunity to take peoples woes on board.
