  1. Think I've broken an injector pump on my Vivaro. Damn.
  2. What did you leave on the bar:confused1:
  3. Bet you wished you'd put on a bigger tarpaulin. Anyway- theres always concrete Seriously. We looked at a garden in clay London a while back and they used fly ash about 6ins deep to lay grass on for tennis courts. You could try that though it really depends on how you want to develop the final garden. I always favour working with the conditions rather than putting loads of effort into changing things. 10 years down the line all the manure will have gone and you may find the drains have stopped working. Not only that, getting them to work is a bit specialist. I've seen clay sports fields that have had thousands spent on them drainage wise still muddy at the surface.
  4. Depends on your eye/hand coordination. It would be a quick way to get you working again with a naily/ stony tree and then throw the chain away. Does the same job as a bench grinder though not likely as accurate. Theres times when I would have liked to use this technique. 5 x sharpen on a 36inch bar going through a holly stem TBH. There was no point in trying to be really accurate as in less than 30 secs. it was blunt again.
  5. Those bloody 261's We heard about the batch differences yesterday. Why they continued to sell them is beyond me. Sprocket/ needle bearing and oil pump. What were Stihl thinking of.
  6. this time of year I would just ask myself how busy I wanted to be
  7. I think it's the price- this time of year- 1 year chopped and seasoned+ delivered. Think about how to check there is 1tonne- otherwise just go ahead- you haven't got a bargain neither have you been diddled.
  8. There is that. I'm just constantly concerned that we do what we have to do and I know sometimes corners are cut/ risks are taken. This is the real world after all. I don't think many people realise that insurance companies whilst having to pay out in all cases of employee liability insurance will sometimes prosecute the firm involved. Do I mean prosecute or counter sue. Whatever. It could be the end of your business just to save a bit of time/cost.
  9. Got to ask 'How can you be covered in cases such as this' If the company had done the correct thing then this wouldn't have happened so can they really expect their insurance to not chase them after of course dealing with the inevitable claim. Would not the risk assessment have picked up the defective chipper. Would it have picked up an untrained employee. No steelies etc etc. I expect this firm to be finished by this. Or am I being unduly cynical about insurance companies. Or unduly harsh on the company
  10. Fine and costs £11k Thats pretty poor but will their insurance not chase them as a firm for the damages. i know they will pay out the employees insurance but would not the firm be persued by their insurers for their failings to maintain adequate training/ safe kit. This company could end up going under for the sake of................

  17. I noticed that- it must be a mistake By the way $30 AUD is about £17-18 as is Canadian and American $ New Zealand is about £15 so an australian climber is on £17 an hour Maccas bacon roll breakfast meal is how much in australia- anyone know? In Uk its about £3.20 including a capuccino from memory
  18. Jesus thats £30 a gallon- Hodge you sly fox- you're minted:001_smile:
  19. Big thanks to Alec for organising this and to Mark for his commercial tips. The day was cold but everyone there (7 of us) got lots out of it and now have a much better understanding of the processes of rejuvenation and spur pruning. Alec- you were great in that you were so giving with your knowledge and in truth we didn't really help you much with your weekend project. Hope you were able to finish the job.
  20. We only use it with 50mm now for FE boards and more often than not don't bother on small fence runs- it's just quicker to use hammer up to 4 bays. That's where the battery/gas ones win for me. Pick up and go. Most panel type fences/ post and rail etc are now screwed. It used to though with 90mm I'll see what the make is. Can't remember where we got it. It's 10 years ago.
  21. groundies take a pay raise- you're worthless. I mean priceless:001_tt2:
  22. sobering. Glad you're OK I wonder how a ground helmet would have coped. I suspect without the vents it would have been better- well- not better but maybe wouldn't have cracked.
  23. we use air but i believe there are issues with compressors needing a ticket. Ours is under 5L air and the reservoir is in the handle so I think exempt. I may be wrong, it's a long time ago I researched this. It can be a pain with long air hoses running across sites and in bushes and having to use a generator as well. I've considered paslode gas but got 2 air guns so sticking with them. Yes= inline oiler.
  24. Theres even darts Play Pub Darts 3D | Free Online Darts Game | Play 501 Darts Against The Computer
  25. I wonder if it might be better to be a landscaper. Could the trade 'tree surgeon' suggest risk taker. Not sure but the profession can affect the premium. As to why they have no business category tree surgery= ?
