1. some real good ones on here:thumbup:
2. My mistake- must have been the lingering memory
3. Basically I'm curious how people practice aerial rescue. I know it is a rare thing but I would like to fit time in occasionally to keep everyone fresh.
4. Try the golf club- used them a couple of years ago
5. Kind of a good idea but you may end up with a six nations of foreign teams. I would like to see Scotland thrive as they are under Dean Richards. They were promising on Saturday. Look how Italy have improved over the last 10 years. They didn't give up and with their players benefitting from time in France and England they could become contenders soon. From the money point- If Scotland were relegated that would mean the end of the Calcutta cup= oldest international game.
6. yes to asparagus wee Sulphur containing ammino acids apparently. 50% do and 50% don't and sometimes those that do make the smelly wee can't smell it. We grow tomatoes each year from last years seed in the sunniest spot. Runners (again saved seed) against the fence. Herbs in pots and usually put some of our old potatoes (soft left over ones) in the ground between the shrubs for the best new potatoes you can get = straight out of the garden. You can put your Jersey Royals and Egyptian potatoes where the sun don't shine.
7. Theres one based in Essex I believe They do supermarket /B&Q grounds maintenance and some tree work if it's the one you want. Tried google?
8. How many charges have you got up to- I understand it counts them
9. Thats what I like to see A debate that doesn't end up being a slanging match- well done all concerned Having said that- sometimes I like a slanging match. The dichotomy of life.
10. to the youngsters who are having a few nut problems Rightee tightee Leftee loosee
11. It's like draughts and backgammon. Everyone can play draughts given a quick lesson but backgammon takes mastering and tactics. Many rugby players don't fully understand the rules. I don't understand why football fans think their game is better. It's just different. It's not about numbers either. Ask yourself what is the most sold food in the UK takeaway- got to be McDonalds= doesn't make it the best food though. It's just easy. You know what you're getting and don't have to think too hard. I rarely put a football game in my diary but I do enjoy watching sometimes especially Chelsea v Wolves the other week= brilliant. I think it's because I don't support a team. That drives the passion. Whereas rugby..well it has to be Tigers. If it winds you up when rugby supporters come out with the same stuff it's probably because it's true and probably because they know it winds you up. But you see, we're a minority and we can say these things.
12. Think about your foundations and the soil and the eventual height of the willows would be a good start. What the hell- plant away and there'll be a tree surgeons job in 30 years:biggrin:
13. What is this country coming to. We're all so damned scared of insurance not paying out. I don't know the answer, does anybody. And this is just one aspect of the whole H&S thing Today, I want to scream.....
14. What a game. England don't give up any more. The combination of an accurate kicker and forward interpassing. Dan Coles excellent breakdown work. Tom Youngs now making accurate line out throws and burrowing like a ferret. An almost try from one second row (Launchbury) followed by a try by fellow second row Geoff Parling. What a pass from Farrell. You couldn't invent this stuff. Against Ireland. Well, I never expect England to win but again increasingly they do. There's a fantastic will to win with this bunch of lads.
15. Cutting wet soil encourages compaction= moss and poor grass growth. In truth this really doesn't matter anymore. the fine lawns of yesteryear are not so common now. Before Xmas we laid a lawn on top of snow and frozen soil. Went back to it a week later and the snow was still frozen under the turf. It's now fine and the weeds we introduced are thriving. (Customer wanted a lawn to match his existing) Never done that before because we were trained not to. In reality faced with a deadline and an unfussy customer we have proved that it can be done. Challenge what you think you know.
16. Correct- it was our old friend Norman Tebbit. And I did:001_smile: 1982
17. IME it's not so much the stack as the location. Plenty of wind on it will suck it dry. I have an alley at the side of the house where the wind whistles through. Logs dry in no time. And I mean dry- from 35% to 18% in a month I reckon. If you don't split them before stacking they are near impossible to split with an axe.
18. Didn't want to hear this. It is probably a cycle thing though. You must let us know if they improve. Anyone tried the stihl version?
19. Never taken a picture. Usually in too much of a hurry not getting caught= Honest answer. We did though once have a fire on the back of a truck where we had moved the remains of a bonfire which relit from the wind acting like bellows. We only knew when people were overtaking and gesticulating.
20. I understand about power lines being dangerous. I wouldn't have the the lad who did it loose on those. He's just not experienced enough. The basic question is can BT or whoever owns the lines legally charge you for the damage as they are crossing another customers land. I would understand it in the street as this is public land but over someones garden who doesn't even use the lines is surely a different story. Does the customer get rent off BT for the facility. I wouldn't want someone elses telephone lines obstructing my view and making it difficult to prune my trees.
21.

Hi

We would be interested in the pruning day- can you send details. I'd like the youngsters to learn too.

22. Is that what they do rather than just suggest a less intrusive prune etc.
23. Thats the thing I can get all stihl locally (about 1 mile) at discounted prices. They know about stuff too. I have left over spares though have another 261 still in use. I'll ask him, he's pretty good with all things mechanical
24. Thats a great description DREAMY:thumbup:
