I guess you know the score Eddie Aspen IS too expensive and hard to get rid of containers. To make it worthwhile you need to buy in bulk which has storage issues. There must be a way you can make this work as I would love to start using it in all 2 stroke and even 4 stroke machines. Needs to be more like BP ultimate = 10-15pence a litre dearer

Had DeWalt 18V system Ni-Cad for about 10 years now. 3amp batts. Everything fits the batteries from impact driver /drills/big drills/circ saw/jig saw. Never any issues and tough as old boots. They have a cheapo range- steer clear Now they bringing out a lithium ion nailer which I HAVE to demo as that woul;d be perfect. Trouble is- not compatible with our batteries. Maybe we need to move Lithium.

Whats that like on uneven ground- I can see it works with flat paddocks/lawns but if at all slopey then it must be a git to keep the cutter level/ upright -

Varies I like the convenience and range available online but I like the friendly chattiness of our local dealers. Also find locally machine fixing is far better as nearest online dealer near here is 60 miles away. Also nice to take a bit of kit in and have a chat with the fitter. Insurance is 70% online/30% local broker Chemicals 50% online 50% local Materials 90% local Basic PPE 100% online Tool hire- almost 100% local Training- local provider. Think thats about it.

So it's likely you get a charge especially as they go through your entire business. Thats probably as it should be although the rate has been set too high. They are there to protect and serve. In reality they may end up like the litter police targetting the fag butt droppers in this industry. Let's call un LOLER'ed kit the fag butt equivalent. I see this as an opportunity to set them on all the local cowboys. But would I do it. Hmmm....................

It's not the kit- it's how you use it. 10man kit for a crew of 3 sounds like overkill but it's mainly more of everything. Practice a couple of scenarios as an emergency and see how everyone reacts. i.e. get someone to play 'hurt'. Then say go. See what happens. The first thing may be that one of the crew yanks open the kit all over the ground. Maybe another will not be able to read whats in the bandages as they need glasses to read. P'raps no one will think to call emergency number. You'd be shocked but it's the practical side that goes wrong when panic breaks out. I agree with the duct tape(or maybe insulation tape) and a T shirt. There could be a lot of blood. -
Just to be clear- if they find nothing wrong, you don't have to pay. I'm assuming they ALWAYS find something wrong.

For your information We're not too expensive- we are quick- we generally use the most modern gear. I assume you mean the general 'you'. Plus we are busy. I believed the general thread bemoaned those who buy in work. This is foolish, though done by everyone at some time. Just to beware going down this route. It can kill the most promising firms. As an aside and to anyone new to business- remember- you CAN often get the job by being 'not the cheapest'- Now that's a business top tip. Try and base your business model on this and not the chasing the $ down route. Plus remember, work is easy- staying in business, now that takes savvy. I do though agree when you say that some people should go out of business- and they do so more than most people would believe.

It;s not as I see it 'moaning about money' it's a reminder to us all not to get too carried away with discounting/ buying in work. It usually ends in tears.

If you want free chips you might be better giving out your address to a local tree surgeon who would drop off the chips when on a nearby job. Saving him/her travel. You may need to wait but probably it will happen. We get asked- but they want to know dates and times etc and just can become a hassle. The customer who just offers a tip site whenever you need it is usually always at the top of the queue. Especially if they greet you with a cheery smile and a cup of tea:001_smile:

In truth Rich- I'd say £700 Theres too many xtras that you sometimes don't factor in including 'all the shite that goes into getting permission in the first place' Every day you've got to put money aside to replace kit. Then theres tickets/ blah blah blah. You know the score.

Get a CAT and Genny Plug the genny in a nearby house and switch it on - you will hear a noise. Go into the garden and follow the trace on genny You get maximum noise at right angles to the cable- thats why you do a chequer board scan. When you get a noise, reduce the setting and then spin the CAT until there is no sound. That is the line of the cable. Use all the settings if you are unsure. You will get a general better picture. Modern ones can detect depth. You will NOT be able to detect a pot end which could be fatal- you find these on old industrial sites. Often a high voltage line is harder to detect as it tends to be better balanced. You won't detect plastic and without a genny you will not detect a cable that hasn't a current running so top tip= get the customer to put the kettle on. Knowledge is power. And from physics ' power is current x resistance and as we all know. resistance is............................................futile
