  1. Guess you don't get it LOLER'ed often:001_smile: Would be cheaper to buy a new one.
  2. But when the amount is £180 and the cheque arrives 3 months late, would you really be sending a further invoice for £4 for interest =8.5% for 3 months is about £2 per hundred pounds. £1800 3 months late= £20 interest- even at this level, is it worth the paperwork and possible bad feeling. Certainly I wouldn't be pursuing through small claims for £20 of interest.
  3. My first thoughts were 1000 hours. Great sculpture. Will you get paid enough to put that time in or is it a labour of love?
  4. same here watched the first 2 episodes again last night- priceless stuff tonight is episode 3 padre is from hustle
  5. OK- final say on this I hope You can do stop/stop for up to 2 minutes only. You need to get a peice of metallic green plastic to put over the Go sides. You will still need the umbrella man/ traffic control ahead/ tree work signs at the correct distances for the speed of the road. You will need a man (*preferably not a boy) holding the boards at each end with a friendly smile and authoritative manner. One person on site will need chapter 8 operative ticket and someone in the office will need supervisor ticket. You will need the blue book with you. If you've done all that then you will be OK with your insurance. The fracas however was probably caused by the lad getting power mad and the guy in the car being in a hurry. Poor communication skills I'm afraid. No tickets for this:biggrin:
  6. Off you f--k Great find Rich
  7. Never really convinced by these arguments any more. We need what we need
  8. well done wales- even though beaten by the Irish who were beaten by the Italians:biggrin: Sorry- someone had to say it.
  9. I'm not so sure- it sounds plausible but surely many trees are pruned to improve light/ reduce leaves in gutters/ improve view - maybe more reasons that don't in themselves admit that the tree is hazardous. What I'm saying is the mere fact that you have worked on a tree doesn't mean you have identified a weakness. As an aside- could you not add a caveat on all invoices that the tree should be inspected say every 2 years after any works to ensure continuing safety. Thereby covering yourself should something happen and also potentially giving you future work.
  10. just as we made the decision to get one to replace the 261- typical:001_smile:
  11. Or maybe thinking outside the box- build a house (single storey dome type) and cover it with chips- snug as a bug
  12. It would be easier simply because we'd do it in one hit rather than 3 or 4
  13. Thanks- this is similar to how my brain has been thinking. It would be easier to do a big hit but it would look awful for a long time and it's a sensitive area.
  14. Interestingly thats what we are looking to do to a group of holm oaks that have lots of spindly growth. How much smaller did you make the new 'internal' crown. I'm thinking they would suit 50%
  15. Thanks for that both It's more then a case of nursing the old boy. Just a thought- would another method rather than a overall reduction be to remove a third of the existing branches over 3 years in a phased 'pollard' -might be easier for the climber and still leave a reduced tree.
  16. I've often thought it is a lot of wasted heat. Theres steam given off when you turn a winter pile of chip. The issue would probably be that in drawing off heat you kill the process.I wonder
  17. My little attempt at humour. Soz. I confuse myself sometimes.
  18. Are we saying the customer was right and that a wee bit of thinning would suffice. Or even leaving alone. Heaven forbid.
  19. I guess it's never going to grow mad but I'm interested to know why you think pollarding will (if I read you correctly) lead to tree vigour reducing leading to eventual death. Is this the thinking?
  20. good post- I hate rootballed especially as size increases.
  21. What do the french know about humour anyway. Apart from allo allo of course:biggrin:
  22. err.... steve bullman possibly:confused1:
