  1. So what you are saying is max out all your accounts then fold and it's free money. Surely there must be a way of getting directors to be responsible. I had a company only owed us about £400 who folded laying off 20 staff but the 2 directors had the premises in their pension plan and it couldn't be touched. Worth about 4 million. I think they had drained the company to buy it. We got letters from the administrators about the situation for years whilst it was being dealt with. They must have taken the rest in administration costs. So it seems limited has some benefits if you are that way inclined.
  2. Not quite If you are buying in materials you then need to use the nett price. Add this to labour costs. Add on your profit then add VAT onto the lot. Bearing in mind you will have other overheads that you need to charge nett i.e. fuel/trucks/tools. It will put up your costs as it is basically a tax on your labour costs and your profit but if you want to expand then you have little choice. Use the few advantages of limited liability to get a bit back and start that hampster wheel up again.
  3. Dead standing- is this the future for loggers. Kill the trees then process them- everythings lighter= cheaper to move, and preseasoned.
  4. To be honest I'm tempted. VAT quarter ends in 3 days. Trouble is I think it will be the same as DeWalt batteries especially with circular saws. I'm, talking 18V and 3ah batts. They start great then tail off. How have you found this with your use. Or is it still too new.
  5. I've got a visit booked with the accountant- I'll ask
  6. Would Britain have ever started the industrial revolution with CE regulations:biggrin:
  7. Thats impressive. I can't imagine Husqvana basically rubbishing one of their petrol saws to make the battery one look good so it must be a genuine test. Wow.
  8. Is it not worth paying the basic. Whatever thats called. About £10 a month from memory. Does this not help with qualifying years on your pension.
  9. If thats true it's a very good reason to go limited. We've not taken dividends yet. I'll have to ask the accountant.
  10. We all know you're loaded:001_tt2:
  11. That poxy issue. Had it on two saws now even the dealer said they'd fixed it when we bought the second. Have to say the first one now fixed is working fine. Can't believe Stihl use us its customers to test their saws.
  12. Can't remember- think its 20% There are times when not taking the dividend is helpful
  13. You take your tax code as wages and then a dividend as you want. This can be helpful.
  14. Limited means you can earn what you want.
  15. So they lost the contract because of this. H&S guys should just learn when to look away.
  16. I'm into the reduction done professionally. This is a far cry from 'topping' I'm also inclined to agree with the customer who doesn't really know what they want then suggest alternatives. I agree reputation is everything.
  17. James It's not amazing it's just natural selection.... been going on for millions of years. Why are humans so convinced they can circumnavigate this stuff. Eventually............................. Look at TB. We thought we'd cracked that one but I hear it's coming back
  18. In truth you could say now that control measures are pointless. Just let the thing get on with it and we'll see what comes out the other end. Remember the hurricane in 87 and all the mechanical clearance to 'tidy' things up. It's just not natural.
  19. Absolutely spot on which is why we're all shaving prices at the moment just to keep busy. It can't last forever. Can it??
  20. Plus and this can be a big plus. It means change and thats a good motivator
