  1. too much 'them and us'- as a firm you've got to work together. You get the boss you deserve.
  2. Don't think it's legal to dock pay so long as the lads have struggled into work they should be paid. In truth those on zero hours have no right to work. It is usual for us to come to some agreement that suits both. last year was bad for snow. Snow is one of the things you should factor in when you work out a day rate for the rest of the year. 2 or 3 days would be normal. I think it's really a need for common sense. Too much snow and no work could bankrupt a small firm so it is in the employees interest to not be too awkward. Plus the bosses interest to show some respect.
  3. He was impressed I'm not so sure- it looked frustratingly slow to my eye
  4. Or whether it is still kicking it on the 2000th charge
  5. Very tempted. Converter charging spare battery in van. Nice and quiet wins the day every time. No fumes. No need for climber to wear ear defenders. As Rich said it's also about power as most electric saws disappoint. No, I'll rephrase that. ALL electric saws disappoint. We did a silky reduction recently and it was a joy to be on site ... until the chipper started up that is. When they gonna bring out a battery chipper:thumbup: Battery groundie?
  6. Theres a twig in the bottom middle of the photo that looks like ash

  8. Depends what you mean by sustainable- If you're not on a wage you can take as long as you like. The green gym

  15. # That sounds like great mechanics advice and I get the science behind it. We're back on the road and weirdly while we were at the garage a guy phoned to ask for a new cabstar wheel and studs. Sounds like we're not alone:listen:

  24. Apparently according to the garage- operators of over 3.5tonnes have to check regularly as part their operators licence. Local bin men have instant dismissal if they are found with arrows out of alignment (heresay). Makes me think there is something in this and that is why we are getting yellow arrows and weekly torque ups on maintenance schedule so it doesn't happen again.
  25. Damn- I've done almost exactly this. I forgot to lower the roll bar. Wish I had a photo but people were waiting to get through...
