good scram there Bill, i have eaten dinner there a few times. I pointed it out to anudder Arbtalker on wednesday of this week as we drove south down the M5 after a visit to the Greenmech factory. He hasn't sampled the delights yet. The whole layout is indeed nice. I like the way the building is kind of hidden from the motorway.

I'm fairly certain i saw one of those hydraulic Tirfors for sale in the last few week either on Facebook or Ebay.

I have a 3200kg Tirfor which is not used too much but is very handy when required. They are a bit heavy and awkward to set up though. I would like to own an Eder power winch, the biggest one they do is rated to have a straight line pull of 1800kg or 3600kg when traction deflected using a snatch block pulley. I would only consider one that utilises a 2T engine though as some of the 4T engines automatically cut out if they tip to one side and starve the head of engine oil which would do my head in! Problem is they are over 2k new!

it'll be nice when it's done but a Hiab will ate into yer weight limit, but seeing as yer In Eire ya prolly don't need an Operating licence or ya can get away without having one?

I was gagging to get out on the beer with yew guys but work got in the way. What i liked about today was what appeared to us visitors to be a massive effort on Greenmechs part seemed easy peasy for them. The delivery was gently informative and nicely casual without information and stats overload. I can't imagine how difficult it must have been to understand, adapt and implement the 'Lean' manufacturing process. It was good to see various people including management stopping by to introduce themselves and chew the fat. Big thanks to PeteB, Martin and everyone else at GM HQ for the hospitality. Them 2 gurls on reception were nice too huh! Regards, Ken

I would imagine there will be a light on the dash to indicate you have shifted in 4x4. My old dog errr Isuzu has a similar setup.

drive it into a muddy field and stick it in 4L, engage 1st gear and see if one or both of the front wheels is spinning? Does the front axle have manual hubs that means you hafta get out of the truck and manually engage them first loike?

I'm sure you could fabricate such a thing Ken? Yes another manufacturer had done just that, but it means swapping out the axle too which takes about 3 mins with the socket set. I specified the standard width axle with the skinny puncture proof tyres but i also bought the other optional axle that takes the wider tyres which is ideal if the ground conditions are soft (well we have had a bit of rain/snow the last few months and the land is still retaining that moisture). As @Old Mill Tree Care says it won't fit through a standard garden gate with the wider tyres fitted but i simply revert back to the skinny tyres when access is an issue. I loike having the option of skinny versus wider tyres (though it did add to the final cost as i got a bit carried away and specced every available extra). I also opted for the tow hitch which means i can tow it with a quad or pickup truck when the need arises. No matter what brand you opt for these Arb Trolly tings are awesome.

just a shame they don't offer a wide wheeled option.
