  1. I got invited to one. Nice breakfast. Took full advantage of that. It seemed a bit too ooh well done you got a customer and not really my thing! I know they were really into it and it seemed like a close knit group but the cost is something i could not entertain!
  2. Depending how the tree officer is, I wouldnt think he would allow such a free to come out. A 40% reduction will be good for it, as long as the tree is vital which it seems to be. The neighbour just seems a tree hater. He'd miss it and all the wildlife it supports if it goes!
  3. You are right Steve. Crown lifting with a Gloria is ace as all the thin stuff flies through. Just to make it feel like I've done some work someone else is using my powered pruner today so I'm stuck to the manual one!
  4. Is that a wareing shed? We've got one that looks about identical in construction but is 100x50ft. Don't have any pics of mine, imagine a 660 on a sawhorse and a tractor mounted splitter. Nothing pretty!
  5. HND is basically FD. I did the FD then at the end of the first year started advertising myself locally for work. Slowly building up experience and contacts and skills. That was about exactly 2 years ago today. Not running a full business in the same degree as others. Work was quiet so I could get in what I had when I was free. There is a lot of material on the course and assignments require a lot of time and extra study. It was a tough slog while trying to work too but I managed and I've just finished the bsc top up RobArb is doing the FD online working full time.
  6. All I'll say is, that hand has been played. And I lost!
  7. like these? note the new expansion of growth, thats what im referring to, Tony called these inosculations, but they are called something else, which i never found a name for!
  8. Very much taken Moz! don't think my gf would appreciate it! Haha. And I'm only 21 so I'd be a proper toy boy!
  9. I'm tempted for this. Will have to see what funds are like as I'll be skint very soon!
  10. Can't think of anywhere else but I found millhouse excellent
  11. Best 13mm are xtc IMO.
  12. Can't understand how people can be so cheap. I quoted for one guy 3 seperate jobs coming to £4.5k, nothing easy about them. Found out all the work had been done for £1800. That was my total costs for one of the jobs to be done in 3-4 days. I saw them doing the odd day here and there for 3 weeks!
  13. The radio is horny, it's asking for input of 1-20 knob(s)!
  14. Chainsaw?
  15. Don't have an issue with mine. Dont use the neoprene pad as its not long enough for a sugoi but the wider straps are better than the silky ones. The handle has a habit of catching ropes and the bottom of the scabbard always finds a way to grip your lanyard!
  16. But if its cheaper running costs, surely you'd benefit from having the extra cash?
  17. My bad. Im sure I've been told 3!
  18. I have a worse nick in one of my lines, three adjacent strands completely cut is a LOLER failure.
  19. Croft is 2 and a half hours. Can do it in less if roads are quiet! If there's a decent turnout I'll be pretty much set on going. And also if anyone near me is going I can split fuel. Can get there and back on less than £30!
  20. Look at the aygo/107/c1 group mark. 1l engine. Will do 300 miles on a tank no bother and will do 45mpg for a petrol on a bad run.
  21. I think that's about right Steve. It's what I've read somewhere anyway.
  22. Try shades of green in Halton, not got a number but they might be a bit easier to get to.
  23. I thought stickers weren't advised on helmets? Says on the label inside. I suppose they wouldn't be any more detrimental than UV? Ill buy a new one at the apf and find some stickers for it. Would look cool
  24. Not nice to hear. But the tree failed under strong wind conditions. Don't want to sound morbid or disrespectful, but why be around trees in strong winds. Bit like the Dunham Massey incident a few years back, around old trees in bad weather isn't a good mix.
  25. My container was an old generator housing, two massive vents either side and a couple of good sizes holes up top, never have an issue, plus the container is a ten footer and kept inside another shed, keeps the rain out!
