  1. I used chestnuts sanding sealer then some clear beeswax. Pleased with this result!
  2. I regularly email my TO and even got invited in to have a chat in his office to discuss the system they use and the processes involved. He trusts my judgement and my decisions and I trust his.
  3. Wow, seems worth it, I mean for the small sum of £160 you will get a debit card that will never arrive with money that doesn't exist but you have to give 30% away!
  4. 15% reduce and re brace possibly?
  5. also, the bottom tier of the fruiting body with the decreased increment of growth is a sign that food is running out, hence the panic fruiting!
  6. would love to make this, heard it mentioned on the spring meet, but im not here to see this one. gutted!
  7. T gibbosa?
  8. C. Versicolor?
  9. It was an arse of a climb. The highest anchor point was 2/3rds up on the side of the tree. Anything else as decent was at least a metre lower! Everything was spindly and tiny and snappy, lots of dead twigs that find their way under my visor.
  10. Very smart. Is it more difficult reaching into the back with it being much higher? A standard pickup to me is nearly at my shoulders so another few inch I'll need steps!
  11. Chainsaws are much easier for getting rid of trees!
  12. Ditto that Tom. We've got a 2010 tdci HCPU and work it hard and it's never missed a best, pulls like a train towing anything and will carry 1.5 ton and still pull 3.5 behind it happily! I'd have tdci if I could afford one for myself.
  13. Operation roll it in glitter. Not brilliant, almost nothing decent to work from or to. Customer was pleaseda though. No before shots but imagine a scruffy topped beech with spindly growth and no anchor point.
  14. I had Dave Meredith training me. Was a good bloke and knew what he was doing. We put a lot of guys through PEsticides tickets through mill house. never had an issue. Gave plenty info and helpful.
  15. I used mill house for most of my courses. Dave padley assessed me for large fell and individual windblown. Was Andy McLoughlin you assessor?
  16. New v old
  17. If I have a job where I don't need another guy then chances are I won't even need to start a saw up! Do the firewood up the yard on my own quite happily.
  18. Ok. It's for Indoor use and I like the idea of a spray! Some slices have got a little bit of blurring on one side so I wouldn't be able to get the bark off. Got 8 good size slices, one in a cool heart shape, that I'm gonna have a mess about with. I'll post some results when I've sorted them!
  19. Can I spray that straight onto the wood? Or do I need to seal it after I've sanded it?
  20. A good quality watch (£££) will most likely have one. Just ask about the materials or check manufacturer specs. Mine was £650 for the new one. €550 for the first, bought it in Italy. I have a seiko titanium one that I've had for about 7 years, just a spare now. Not that chunky, it was £120, that's titanium too and featherweight. Go on tissots site, they have a whole range of touch watches, but well out of budget!
  21. Got some slices of cherry that I want to turn into fancy looking clocks, they have a nice range of colours. I need some pointers. Bark on or off? What varnish/wax is best to make the colours look their best?
  22. I've had a tissot t touch for 5 years now. Got the t-touch expert for my 21st which has a slightly larger face and does a bit more. Cracking watch. Wore the last one everyday and it never had an issue. Still on its first battery! Sapphire crystal face means you can't scratch it. Never got a mark on mine and wore it working every day. Mine is made from titanium, nice gunmetal colour and lightweight compared to its steel counterpart. 100m water resistant too.
  23. I'd come for a walk. I thought a climb was being organised! Always good to walk around that place!
  24. Silky zubat or sugoi. Sugoi is longer with bigger more aggressive teeth, zubat is better on smaller twigs.
  25. Have a dmm sentinel for my strop, bought it for it so then all my other biners could stay for climbing. It's nice and small so sits nicely at the back on my harness and doesn't snag. Just replaced my caritools with some dmm wire gates.
