  1. The stress is inevitable. It's the dealing with it that makes the difference. Andy Collins summed it up well. You need to have something to do when you get home. Arbtalk can be handy but it's still work so your mind isn't switched away from it. Things don't always go to plan. A job takes a bit longer than normal which causes rushing and stress at the end of the day. Get on with it but think what you would do different. Then when you find a similar situation you know a plan of action. Worrying about it won't help any problem get fixed or help your mind. Break them down into small plans of action. Instead of a big job you've now got 5 easy jobs. Most of the time Nothing is that urgent that it has to be completed that day. Discuss it with clients if it's a job overrunning. I've found most are understanding. I find gaming can really help me switch off. Don't need much of it but it helps me focus on something that's fictional and releases stress. Bad drivers everywhere? Stick grand theft auto on and use that for getting over it!
  2. The strip and clean makes a huge difference. Mine was suffering from the bad chain brake but a good clean with a degreaser sorted it.
  3. I'll keep an eye open!
  4. Very close to me. Will keep an eye out!
  5. I found the best way is to cut that section out, split it, dry it, then put it on the boiler
  6. Stihl make augers with a brake that stops them breaking your wrist. You could buy it, do the job then sell it on and get most of the cash back. We've drilled thousands of holes with ours. Great bits of kit.
  7. Looks like he took the cutterbar off a combine and stuck it on a power pack with wheels. Looks a bit unwieldy though! Needs a mountain board behind it to save your legs!
  8. O captain, my captain. RIP robin. He was brilliant.
  9. That's where they get you. You wouldn't think it was stolen its that slow Have you got rid if the permanently overloaded landy now?
  10. Won't be, they have already announced a facelift focus for autumn this year. Looks SUV like.
  11. Looks like drought stress to me too. Leaves do look a little small overall? For reference, Effects of Cameraria ohridella - leaf miner, attached.
  12. If you can't, make sure you get some photos, you could make a calendar!
  13. I would imagine because there's no flow it stalls. Bit like lifting the clutch in a car too quick maybe.
  14. Spray it in autumn with a strong glyph mix. Will take a few years for full control and eradication
  15. Terrafirma double cardan prop? Maybe speaking to a landy parts specialist like paddocks would get you what's needed. Looks like it failed good and proper. Zip ties and duct tape not work for now?
  16. Pass the tissues!
  17. Does it matter? Dump it where you want and let them try and clamp it! The disco looks like fun. Fill the tyres with helium and you'll float!
  18. Got my iMac in April. It's brilliant. Takes some getting used to from windows but it's all laid out better. Noticed one of these little thunder flies under the glass last night though. Haven't a clue how it's got in! Will be going to apple with that dilemma!
  19. Ive not long changed my aluminium baselines from the original leather pads to velcro ones, and what an amazing improvement, so much comfier, feel much more confident on them. Velcro pads are a must!
  20. Indeed, saw a yew that must have been about 20' cut back to a 3' high stump, its now got 18'' of growth on it and looks like a little yew shrub. Probably 3 years of growth!
  21. Parish mag here, one full page ad is paying for itself each month, getting a fair amount of recommendations and repeat custom this year. On the other end of the business it is manic, I'm struggling to get tree work done! The recommendations and repeat customers are in general a lot nicer to deal with, having the reputation already there before you turn up helps a lot at quote stage, and people listen to what is said. The ones off the parish mag are a mixed bag, usually ok with the odd one fishing for quotes. Pricing must be about right as I'm getting ones who know whats involved and people after a quick job think I'm expensive, never heard 'oohh thats cheap' yet.
  22. I use the stihl splitting maul if the wedges come out, plenty weight in it for knocking in hi lifts and can be handy for busting rings apart on a job to carry them, although i would rather run the saw through than break a nut trying to split a load of logs!
  23. Looks like Renault cab on a mog chassis?
  24. I get a max download speed of 200kbps. HD anything is out of the question. Big downloads have to be planned for! Even basic YouTube is a big ask.
