  1. Hope the insurance comes good ASAP so you dont loose any work. It could be worth asking any local dealers to give you a 30 day account to help you out. They get a sale and a very happy customer.
  2. Why on earth not!!! Do they not understand that if the crooks get caught with a stash of gear they could possibly trace it back to you ONLY if they file a report! Sorry to hear of another theft. Cant you whack some new saws on a CC until the insurance pay out?
  3. The way I see it we only have one chance at life, once your dead thats it, nothing more. No burning in hell for Mr Nasty who cheated, scammed, stole, murdered his way through life causing untold misery and pain for many, many decent people. No blissfull after life for Mrs Nice who had to endure beatings and abuse as a child, terrorism from the local scum bags, widowed due to a hero husband who tried to stand up to the scum bags etc etc. So, why should we give a second chance to the lowest of the low who lets be honest do not deserve any rights whatsoever. If you deprive someone of their life then I think yours should be forfeit, end of. I would sentence to death more than those who directly take others lives as sometimes death can be a less cruel way than the way some have to live their lives.(makes sense in my head, I think!) The justice system as it is does not work. The death sentence would no way fix it but would, I think, be a good start along with some other major changes. With the advances in science and technology ie forensic's, DNA testing, CCTV etc I would think that wrongful convictions for the DP should be none existent. As mentioned it should only be carried out 'without a shadow of doubt' Whats the use of keeping someone in jail for life? They cant contribute to society in any kind of positive way whatsoever, if anything they will still cause grief to the prison guards, other inmates in for lesser crimes and it has been brought to light that they can still cause major problems on the outside by still running their 'business' though contacts, mobile phones etc. So get rid and move on, life's too short.
  4. BBC News - Death penalty 'proper punishment' for some crimes - MP We need a clear out.
  5. Well that will teach him to try a Hans Moretti trick.
  6. I dont think its to do with it being toxic its more to do with it being a heavy metal that can sit in the lungs and not be expelled, or something like that. Plus i think the other metals in tungsten can do damage like cobalt etc.
  7. You completely sure about that? Besides also depends on what grinding wheel he is using, if it's a green wheel rather than diamond then it is very hazardous.
  8. Yeah deffo dont use one of those cheap throw away dust mask jobbies:thumbdown: Not sure exactly which type to use but mine cost about £30 iirc and you van replace the filters. It has filters that are just for particles rather than spray painting ones or chemical filters etc.
  9. What's the deal with the handle being bonded to the cord? Does this mean if the cord snaps you can't just replace it you need a new handle as well!!? If it is a big double  to Stihl. If not, carry on.
  10. Brilliant news.
  11. well said. How many threads have there been of people comparing about being under cut on prices and how you should part for quality and service!? We can't have it both ways. I think that whoever sells the equipment should have to deal with any warranty problems (btw I know jonsie would be more than happy to have sorted that saw out so I'm not having a go at him) at least it would be a lot more fair.
  12. Come on my post wasnt misleading at all! I said 'As far as I know' and 'it shouldnt' which is fairly accurate anyway.(it takes roughly 3000V to jump 1mm in air) Of course I wouldnt want anyone messing about with electricity and getting injured, but really, if they are asking question about power lines they shouldnt be going near them. Plus I was pointing out we should all check our extension leads now and then:001_tongue:
  13. If you know all the facts then please post them. Im fairly sure its the voltage not the amps that make electricity jump. Also how does the breaker make a difference?ie are you really sure the extension lead is less of a risk? Ill remember your last coment when I see you post something that I know is nt 100% right eh?
  14. I bet no one hesitates for a second pulling an old extension lead out of the shed then plugging it in to there lawn mower etc! As far as I know LV won't jump gaps and surely it shouldn't be a problem with pin holes in the sheath etc. Not saying we should go around grabbing the cables though!
  15. Yep thats it! Forget what I said, I can now blame the tools! Cheers MR cut4fun.
  16. I was being a bit dramatic on the 10K, checked today and its more like 8.5K, best to over estimate spending I suppose.
  17. It does indeed. I am a bit of a whopper when it comes to the depth gauges, I usually forget about them then wallop them down. Although my depth gauge is well and truly shiny and only got used on the new chain when I was desperate! Its like those groove scrapers, I buy one every fews years only to find it disappear within about 3 days of buying it! I'm still just buying the oregon ATM as the work I'm doing is battering the saws and the full chisel doesnt last 2 minutes. I always wondered why they didnt make a full chisel for the 020, maybe part of Stihls long term plans to blag us. If only someone would do a back to back comparison like mentioned, now who said they were going to do that?
  18. Cant believe no one has cottoned on to the obvious problem I pretended I had. I would have thought it was plainly obvious that the depth gauges needed a bit more filing than normal since they have a silly anti kick back thingy!!!!! Even though they look good to the eye and a depth gauge says they are fine they have a hided line on either side to show where to file to! Come on, I thought you were all professional chainsaw users!!!
  19. Would it be possible to heat the blade to remove the hardness, sharpen then reharden? Could possibly ruin the blade but id its going to get thrown out it might be worth a try. I made a knife from an old file by annealing and hardening so it isnt rocket science, whether its worth the hassle is another matter though.
  20. You know its an illusion but a little something still makes you think it is real magic! The guy is brilliant.
  21. Sounds scary stuff Andy but here's hoping all is well. Good luck to everyone packing in, it's the best thing you can do to improve your health:thumbup: I've packed in for not that far off 2 years now, well I have had the odd 1 and bought a packet of 10 not so long ago when I had some bad news BUT I haven't touched any since and consider myself lucky I can have the odd smoke and not start right back up again. I used patches, gum and one of those electric cigs all at the same time it was ace! apparently though using an aid can not only help you kick the habit but also maintain it and not go back. My advice is to not think of yourself as a smoker trying to give up, just think of yourself as a non smoker. Once again good luck all.
  22. Must be as it looks closeish to the bt lines but far enough away from the lv cables. Could be a gang of midget working on that job in which case they will have nothing to worry about.
  23. I've noticed quite a few dead and also very poor looking birch this year. I put it down to the harsh winter we had.
  24. I know! I really need to buy a yard rather than waste it on rent but a good one is hard to find and I reckon a business mortgage wont be cheap!
  25. I doubt it. I think you are more likely to be in a minority that.. 1 Can actually be bothered to voice their opinion. 2 Will tell the truth about such matters not caring who is watching. Can those who are all for the refresher honestly say they keep up with every ticket AND all freelancers and subbies they work with, work for and employ do the same? Afertall it's only really are own safety while working in this industry, most others would be putting the public at risk far more often than we do. Anyone know if it's just the UK that try to make us jump through more and more hoops?
