1. The plastic tool is probably the easiest and quickest thing to use, plus you know you won't damage the piston with it. Fair enough if it's not to hand and you need to improvise.
2. Really interesting vid.
3. Yeah you should get the blower and do it your self. Fair enough if the lads want to work the hours and like getting the money. I always though that if I have to work stupid hours continuously I would take a long hard look at my life and life style and change it accordingly. Im not a lazy bugger but Im certainly not going to work myself into the ground. Besides everyone says/thinks they work damn hard.
4. Yes Orange are pants. Dont be surprised if it happens again, if it does turn the phone off then back on again, by keeping the on/off button down for a bit.
5. Looks like a no on that front! Seriously though if your lads are working till 9PM please give them a good slap around the head and tell them to ge a life! There is no way on Gods Earth I would be working that late!
6. Just wondering what others think of the new chain by Stihl designed for the 201T. For those who don't know its a full chisel chain but with the top handle low profile. I bought some for the 020 an was fairly impressed at first. It is an agressive chain and cuts really well. But, after a couple of sharpens I just couldn't get it to cut, and I mean cut, it was like using a blunt chain! Now, I'm going to suggest my sharpening skills must be to blame. Have no prob sharpening the oregon super rapid 75LPX chains I use on the bigger saws so really baffled on this one! Even after knocking the depth gauge and the safety ramp down and getting some nice hook in there with a sharp point it just didnt want to bite into the wood. Anyone else having this prob with the chain or is it just me. Gone back to the 91 VXL as it is a good chain anyway. The only thing I could think of, well apart from my poor sharpening skills is that the top plate angle is too steep. So then impressed or not?
7. I had the same running prob with an old still blower. Bought a very cheap ultrasonic cleaner, bunged the stripped down carb in, back together and worked great. That was after I had tried all kinds of carb cleaners which didn't work.
8. Some pics of how to use it. Basically it needs to sit flat against the top of the cylinder and the top of the piston. Exactly like this one. Hope it helps.
9. I've only had one job were I have told the client I buggered up on the quote and changed the price, that was BEFORE starting the job, which then went to someone else. The other odd occassion I have cocked the price up the work had already begun so there was no way I was going to ask for more money.
10. That seems like a reasonable price. I keep meaning to get one for the 066 and 046 ill have to get one ordered!
11. You can get a new piston and cylinder from ebay for less than £50:thumbup1: Not a genuine stihl one but worth a go if the rest of the saw is good.
12. You don't need to split the body to access the piston, just remove the cylinder.
13. If you dont mind me asking where did you buy the exhaust from and how much did it cost?
14. I have a cunning plan to evade that situation.
15. So who tuned it and what did they do exactly? It should rev higher and stronger. Well as far as I know anyway.
16. A hs85 with 40" blade is an excellent hedge cutter. It's cheap as in it needs next to bugger all maintenance and just keeps on running. Can't buy any new as they changed the model so don't bother, I would buy a used one.
17. You know what i think those are the ones!!!! Cheers for that.
18. Ill have to try and sort it tomorrow for you, sorry. Tbh what I do is use an impact wrench, havent fooked anything yet in 15 years and it sure saves a lot of messing about.
19. If thats what you love doing and you family do too then excellent. The more I see of life the less I want to spend it working. I dont particularly hate my job(well not all the time), although I do hate working as mentioned :laugh1:but I dont love it so there's no way I'm wasting my life on it. This week started badly but did get better, but did too much running about for my liking trying to fit jobs in to get them out of the way while I concentrated on the more important work, if that makes sense:confused1: Anyway we only have one life with no second chances so lets make sure we enjoy it while we can.
20. Ridiculous! Noo. That's something I would aspire to. Think about it, he's employing 8-12 men which is a good start especially as jobs are short ATM, the lads aren't being slaved out and working silly hours with hardly any break and he probably isn't running around like a blue arsed fly. He isn't trying to screw the last penny out of his customers. It's probably a better working environment for everyone. plus if he's happy with what he earns then excellent! Sounds fairly good to me tbh. I decided long ago that I'm not going to run myself in to the ground with work, to me it's no good spending your life working all the hours and trying to get others to do the same. As someone said each to their own and if it's what they love doing then brilliant, working hard is one thing and we all know if you are doing a good job then there is alot of hard work that goes into tree work but the days of me doing 16 hours are well and truly gone. besides I still wouldn't make that kind of money anyway.
21. Ok then what I want is...the toughness of the welders gloves, the quality of the gold leaf winter gloves but more importantly the cost of the protek's:thumbup: Surely that's not too much to ask for is it? Thanks for the info will have a check of them. I've bought loads of different types over the years and only one style suited, dunno where I got them from though:001_rolleyes: they were leather with a thinnish fleece lining and elasticated cuffs, oh and a nice snug fit.
22. You want to use it so its facing upwards. If you try to push it in too far it won't sit right. One of those tasks that is easier to show than explain! I'll try and star a diagram for you later.
23. One of those terminals would be quite. Hate having to dash to the bank through the week or early on a saturday:thumbdown: No bounced or 'delayed' in the post cheques either! Thing is though, it would last about 10 minutes before it got lost or stamped on. Soon we are going to be able to pay for items using a smartphone that has a chip in. Will be a great way to take payment from customers.
24. Since gloves seem to be the hot topic atm:001_smile: any recomendations for a decent ground glove that has some wear resistance ie doesn't rip the coating off after a days rigging and also some resistance to thorns etc. They don't need to be the most dexterious type just as long they don't come in one size fits all and also don't need to be super grippy.
25. I was just going to say that. I dont see the need for a mesh screen at all!
