  1. I remember watching a documentary on this subject. They reckon it can happen on a much, much quicker scale than previously thought. Although I have no more info you can take it as Gospel.
  2. Err I think you are very wrong on that one tbh. True with beech, I very much doubt it will grow back. Most broadleaf trees do however so I always poison with glyphosate for free, never had anyone complaining in 15+ years that they have either grown back or killed off anything else.
  3. Is that fact? It's just I have never heard that eating fungi was probably the most important part in human evolution.
  4. Impressive
  5. Sounds like he must have been a very decent bloke. Sorry for your loss. I know nothing about farming apart from a few tortures summers weeding and leak peeling when I was a kid, but has it been a good year for farming then?
  6. Good stuff.
  7. I would use a 89m ladder. Although I would obviously be busy err doing something very important to my climbing gear while the ladder was being erected.
  8. It worked though! Tbh I found that although it was a PITA most people just accepted it. Looking back I do wonder how we allowed people to smoke while others were eating. Apparently the health improvements were noticed within 18months of the bans. Now that has to be a good thing. Also contrary to popular belief smoking costs the government (well the previous government not his one) more than the revenue the taxs on cigs brings in. They didnt plough loads of money into the smoking bans and ads just for our health! Anyone noticed that there are no more adverts for public awareness on smoking, STI'S, alcohol and drugs!? Good on everyone who is still quitting.

    The Icebook

The imagination and artistic qualities some people have are unbelievable. Excellent vid.
  10. Where will they go and what havoc will they cause to some poor unsuspecting bugger though. Kicking people out doesnt help in the long run I now believe. Unless there is a big compound somewhere with 60foot high walls!
  11. Just been having a look at the bbc site and scanning the videos. This one just about sums it up for me. BBC News - Riots: 'David Cameron come and live in Peckham for a week' Do they not realise that benefits are there to keep people above the breadline, NOT to provide them with plenty of spare cash in a nice cushy house in a leafy suburb. I think that should be emphasised to them when they sign on, "This free house and free cash is to keep you and your children alive, its not so you dont have to work." A change of mindset is in order if they are to be helped.
  12. Brilliant. Looks like a man at the end of his tether.
  13. Not surprised in the least. Already been on the news that some are reporting police brutality and excessive force! BTW that's a thumbs down to the whinging human rights activist people not the police who do a difficult job. Tough luck as far as I'm concerned, don't throw petrol bombs then complain your getting a kicking. Just seen some of the scum being interviewed, I think a compulsory IQ test should be put in place, those with less intelligence than a slug should loose their freedom to breed and speak.
  14. The Stihl grease is very sticky compared to your bog standard bearing grease so I doubt it will be as effective tbh. Well, you may just have to grease it a lot more than normal I suppose. BTW, the bits inside the gearbox's arent cheap if they need replacing!!
  15. Ah right cheers for the info. I didn't realise they were such specialist pieces of kit.
  16. Ahh, mashing brash up in a skip, brings back memories. Is surprising what you can get in there if you put the effort in with the saw. Still would look at paying someone to chip it first though.
  17. I hope so, I got some tickets I dont really want so I might get my money back. Every cloud etc.... Said on the radio they are looking at using rubber bullets tonight, why havent they used the water cannons though?
  18. Utter madness!! Looks like my thread on the death sentence was quite timely! This is just a very sad state of affairs. Businesses, homes and lives destroyed before your eyes due to nothing more than useless scum.
  19. I hope your going to charge for this service? Otherwise you are seriously undermining the code reading industry! Taking food out of peoples mouths etc etc.
  20. Have never heard that its best to prune alder in the winter tbh. I would do it now, and as already mentioned it will soon grow back!
  21. Well then, I would forget about the £300 and just give a local firm a call to come round and give you a quote. BTW does the person you asked have any knowledge in tree removal? Ive priced a few jobs were the customer has a figure in their head because their mate reckoned it would cost X amount. Sometimes its cheaper than they thought.
  22. Smoking weed, snorting coke and drinking alcohol isnt that bad and doesnt really have that big an effect on working. According to the people that abuse it.
  23. I cook 99% of the time. My missus has a proper job and works longer hours so I suppose its fare. The other 1% is heated up in the microwave.
  24. Yep, if only because lime is such a great tree to work with. Looks very short and stumpy, so I guess not much too fear.

    Worried

Is it a disklok you use? Note the spelling so you get the correct type of lock. I knew a few scum bag car thieves who reckoned they were among the hardest to remove. Make sure you keep nothing on show through the window You can also buy an alarm that will call/text your mobile phone if it is activated. Which IMO is more important than anything ie YOU being alerted to a theft, not relying on the police of a member of the public to inform you. Google should find you one.
