  1. The tool loops are weak and WILL snap if you drop even an 020 from them( the ones covered in a plastic tube) unless they have been strengthened.
  2. Cheers for the info. Good luck with the project.
  3. The nissan looks nice. Do you have any costs on the 3mm alu and the sizes?
  4. Thing is though it's meant to be a pro saw and therefore should be able to take more than a little abuse, which it used to be able to do until they redesigned the handle making it weak. I never strop onto the chain brake and as you say it's not really a good idea. I just don't bother replacing them anymore when they do snap.
  5. Did that hold?
  6. A new part is around £15. Its easy enough to change but you need to give it all a good clean as ALOT of oil and crap gets in there and take a few picks as you dismantle so you can suss out were all the bits go. Also knock the chain brake off ie take the energy out of the spring before you remove the white plastic cover.
  7. I think its just a question of time.
  8. How are you getting on with it? Hopefully its sorted and your busy stump grinding.
  9. Sounds good. Does the battery last the equivalent of a tank of fuel,or longer? A battery powered top handle would be nice!
  10. Is it any good though?
  11. Regardless of how it performs I think it is the nicest looking saw I have ever seen! BTW I dont own one and never plan too, but it does look nice!
  12. The only negative I could comment on is not closing the road. And TBH IMO its a very big negative. We all take risks but if that went wrong it wasnt a new wall or conservatory, someone who was just on the way to work would have been well dead! As for everything else. worked well. The PPE, I wish I didnt have to wear chainsaw pants most of the time so cant see what on earth the complaint is there!!
  13. Before you take the advice of "Get what you can but look for other work" etc, why not just have a chat with him? His excuse of not getting paid until he does is a crap/poor one but have you really talked about the payment problem or just had a quick passing word? If he says thats the way its going to be you can easily make a decision on whether to move on or not but if in general the work and money is good then it is surely worth coming to some agreement. FTW I never owe anyone anything, ever. They get paid at the end of the week or the end of the job depending on the situation.
  14. Ill make sure I dont answer the phone then. Working in the dark when its wet and windy just isnt my bag, money isnt that important.
  15. Just wash them like normal clothes so they dont look bad and stink then just keep the chainsaw away.
  16. Remove both spark plugs and have a good look at them. Wouldnt be surprised if the one closest to the cutter head is oiled/carboned up.
  17. A very, very rough idea of cost is £500+VAt a day.

    Home Brew

Sloe and damson gin, with a hint of almond and cinnamon. Made some nice beers from Brupaks, pride of yorkshire kits. Was a while ago though.
  19. I think you are spot on there. Headmaster has lost his authority and made a rod for his own back. Parents are only doing what they instrinctively know/do, backing up their kids when they see them threatened by others, usually that soon changes when the child does something that the parent doesn't agree with though.
  20. Bar gets pinched close to the saw body then something else drops/springs onto the rest of the bar. Im guessing windthrow stuff.
  21. I would imagine FR Jones could get them for you. I only looked into it as in it can be done, never got around to ordering some though.
  22. I don't see what the big problem is. What he did worked, and worked well surely that can't be denied!! I wouldnt have done it the same way, but then if anyone followed what i do they could just as easily be harmed if that's what all the big palava is about.
  23. You can change them to the leather strap one and I do keep meaning to do it. But I also said that about renewing my old spikes and that took 10 years. Yes the Velcro one is rather pooh. Tbh I don't know how someone can design something so useless when what they had worked fine.
  24. Sounds like a good man trying to do his job. For far too long have kids gotten away with far too much. Maybe if parents brought there kids up properly to abide by the rules and listen to their elders then the teachers wouldn't have such a hard time and have to take these actions.
  25. I wonder if it would be another thread with different views if it was a veteran oak/beech etc.
