  1. Hopefully she isn't 'known' to the other 2!
  2. Can you hear anything making a clicking sound by the ram/oil filler when you/someone operates the switch? If yes then either the pump or the connections to(they are thick wires like battery/starte motor wire) are knackerd or in the case of wires by just need a terminal clean. If no(and it can be very faint and hard to hear sometimes), then either a fuse, switch, solenoid or feed/earth to the solenoid needs repairing.
  3. I think it is! Its only because the 020 is a better ground saw and the 046 beats it hands down chogging stems down that it hardly gets used tbh. Im sure it has its place somewhere though.
  4. Good man, thanks. Actually good job I asked!
  5. When a crane is used to full effect it is unbelievably quick. I hardly ever use cranes now though as I cant justify the £500 a day cost, great if you have loads of work but pointless if the diary isnt filled. They only get used now when there is no other cost effective option, or no other option.
  6. Excellent stuff. Anything that promotes our industry as a professional industry can only help us all.
  7. How many drive links on 18" bar? Had the saw about 6 years and bought about 2 chains in that time! Im thinking 72 but for some reason also 74! I also assume its a .50

Oh he has a MS880, so he's allllllllright. Plus he does a bit of crazy stunt hill felling.

    kick back

Looks like it was nearly a snuff video about the dog! I watched it once, then turned the sound up to see if I was missing any important commentary, so thats 4 minutes gone.
  10. Brilliant!!! 34 is great. An 69.
  11. You can get away with absolutely anything. Well until you/them get investigated. If they see someone has been claiming for washing machines, food, standard clothes etc they will ASSUME there is massive fiddling going on and it can cripple and bankrupt people. Obviously being an open forum its not very wise to get into tax evasion. All I can say is claim for everything that you need to run your business if you dont need it to operate then theres a very good chance you cant claim it back. Im sure many a good hard working bloke who has built his business up from nothing has been walloped by the tax man for doing something silly, dont let it be you. Look at it this way, no one wants to pay tax, but a large tax bill means a large profit. Thats the only way I can come to terms with handing my hard earned over to the blood suckers.
  12. Is pic 3 a red herring! Surely its not the same tree as 1 and 2? Im gonna say pear tree as no one else has.
  13. Can it be overloaded? Im just thinking as a hire machine it will have certainly been put through its paces, with a bit of the "Watch what I can pick up lads!" Im sure you can sort it out though.
  14. You could try fiberglass, ie loft insulation. Its used, or was used in the exhaust of motorbikes, it muffles the sound but wont ignite. I think just stuffing it in the exhaust might kill the engine though!
  15. No doubt making the exhaust port smaller and/or adding extra baffles will certainly quieten it. Wont do the power any favours or engine life. I suppose a custom exhaust would be the best bet but not cheap I would imagine! Sorry cant be of any direct help, will be interesting to see if its been tried though.
  16. First time I've heard of using salt to effectively treat stumps!

    Public

Joe Public sucks. I was going to expand but I think my first statement sums it up tbh. A pity his exhaust didnt set light to brash!
  18. Theres 17
  19. Are you a tree surgeon?
  20. I suppose its a break from topping conifers!
  21. Yeah one of the lads has a pair. Seem comfy and have a few zip vents for the summer. They arent very tough, but better than some Ive tried ie hiflex.
  22. Sip progress here and they seem to be quite good.
  23. I say fell, as it doesnt fit its surroundings, ie looks wrong. I dont think we take in to consideration if trees look good in the right location. After all, it is the 21st century and its ALL about looks.
  24. Cheers for the info. Think ill look into changing the bottom velcro to the leather style.
  25. Dont use 2 anchor points for branch walking unless you have to. You will be way too slow. Just use the second anchor when cutting, even then a lanyard is more than fine.
