  1. Look like quality trousers. Steve, you may wanna read through your post again and edit it a bit.
  2. Theres a massive difference, usually around £100. They do have Kevlar and/blocking material but it won't stop you cutting yourself. It's not that good. I'm thinking about just buying some steel toe cap comfy boots next time I need some tbh. It's not that often I have the saw anywhere near my feet.
  3. Could I ask a favour? Can you take a pic of the bottom attachment? Mine looks different to yours, it has a Velcro fastening which is garbage, your one looks better! As for the length of the gaffs they do look a bit long, I think there are 3 different types.
  4. I'd say you've already lost. She challenged you, not us. Buy some goods to the tune of 2k then sell them high enough to bring in the additional £500. Good luck.
  5. I would want to know exactly what the problems are. We all think we do a great job and you could be right but without finding out what the problems are you will never know.
  6. I reckon that most people get bitten the same amount ie its not that the insects are attracted to some more than others. I think its more to do with how different people react to the bite. Therefore try antihistamines to help with the symptoms. Just my thoughts and ideas after doing a bit of travelling and listening to how some people reckon they have sweeter blood etc etc. I know I have been bitten loads of times but dont usually react to it, were as my Mrs does.
  7. If your going to sharpen them yourself I would invest in a diamond grinding wheel that mounts onto a bench grinder. They last way way longer than a green wheel and are approx a trillion times less hazardous to use. Never tried the ones that mount on angle grinder but from what I hear it's best to grind the steel with a normal grinding disk but use the diamond for the tungsten as the steel can clog the diamond wheel up making it a lot harder to use. I find the cobble stone type of rock the worst as it can smash the tungsten to bits! Always carry a good road bar to dig any stone/bricks out etc.
  8. 5 votes for the willans. Sorry I didnt include it now.
  9. In regards to the posts where the parents will go back to a moved nest with chicks, would that also be the same for a nest containing eggs? I always thought once any nest was moved or touched they wouldnt return.
  10. A good result then.
  11. I did it once to a potential Asian customer. Couldnt understand what she was saying so I just blurted out something like, "WHAT DO YOU WANT! are you trying to sell me a mobile phone or something!!" "Ermm no, I was after a price for some tree work but I'll call back later":blushing: She never did for some reason. Bear in mind I was getting constant calls from Asians trying to sell me mobiles, they really do wind you up when your dashing for the phone and its bloody telesales garbage. I hardly answer the phone now unless its a mobile or local number. Unknown numbers can forget it.
  12. Sounds like the consequences arent worth worrying about then since that sounds like the worst case scenario! I doubt anyone will care if the odd pigeon nest gets a bashing by mistake. We usually leave nests if they have chicks but more often enough they are a casualty of war and its usually too late when they are found(99.9% of the time its pigeons in leylandii hedges). I could probably count the number of jobs I would win on one hand if I had to conduct and charge for a bird survey! Bizarre that you could possibly be fined and jailed for disturbing a nesting pigeon then go and shoot it while its causing a nuisance elsewhere. I try not to kill stuff but then again I wouldnt mind if all the sycamore aphid were wiped out.
  13. May as well be classed as a gardener then. How pathetic of insurance companies putting height restrictions on professional foresters/tree surgeons!! Sounds like a get out clause more than anything:thumbdown:
  14. Cheers to those that have taken the time to vote and post. Looks like the tree motion is romping away!
  15. Surprised that it isn't a red oak.
  16. Rumbled big time! I was planning to find out who owned a tree motion then go and steal it from them. You big blabber mouth!!!!!!
  17. Big ooooops there. Its my old harness (T22) and a cracking one to boot. I take it you still use it?
  18. Hmm possibly post more than once. Maybe I should of gone with multiple vote but tbh it wasnt very well thought out. So a post with what you have will do please bobba
  19. I assume the HSE have already contacted you with the 'thumb not being in the correct position' incident. Did the waders come with the built in belly pouch?
  20. Ill give that a miss then if you dont mind! Ive had more than my fair share of wasp attacks which are painful enough.
  21. Not a poll to ask "Which is the best harness" a poll to ask what harness do you have now. I'm going for sheer numbers rather than opinions which is where it gets all complicated, ie what you have now might not be what you prefer or would buy. If its not in the poll a quick post with the manufacture/model will do. Discuss if you like but I imagine most have got bored of this type of thread/poll but if not, knock your self out. Ill start with, Treeflex.
  22. Doesnt look like a very well seasoned log. I would hazard at a guess that a Swedish log would be cut from softwood therefore being a bit better suited than hardwood. I remember seeing a web site that sold these, they had a hole bored in from the side to make a draft.
  23. I would say that a dead tree in close proximity to people is quite a bit of a danger. It WILL drop limbs, so I would use that as an excuse/ahem, reason to remove it and replant. Replant being the most important bit there.
  24. Read about this the other day. Possibly the most idiotic thing I have read in a long time. Will be signing that petition.
  25. I dont think ive ever seen one, well not outside a zoo anyway.
