  2. We asked Citb for a course they replied that the machine is a chariot and not covered by any of their tests , didn’t bother with the forestry, npors had no qualification for a machine that you stand on my machine is a loader and dumper had it on site at Nine Elms on roof gardens they were happy as it weighs less than a tonne, what ticket have you got.?
  3. My Grandad had a love of guns, he was a sniper at Ypres in WW1. Post war, he was either poacher, loader or keeper on the local estate, depending on the occasion. He also ran a gun club and shooting range at one point. I can remember various cartridges etc in pots, ashtrays and piles around his place. He ran the local Post Office too, back when they didn't sell anything apart postal stuff. After he died at home in the early 80's, his children met to empty the house. In the big walk in cupboard/room under the stairs, casually hidden under a pile of Post Office clothing/coats etc they found 6 x Martini Henry action .22 rifles, a 410 garden gun and a single shot walking stick 12 gauge. A couple of air rifles were also present. The local Bobby was approached who visibly blanched and basically suggested that as unlicensed and unregistered, the implications were pretty awful to all concerned, him included! A grave was dug up in the orchard and, apart from the airguns, barrels first, these were knocked in with a sledge! Prayers were said and the hole filled. Later that night, a fair bit of ammo fell into the canal near the lock gates. The next year, the canal was drained to mend the locks and the finds caused a stir locally. I must that airgun in my wardrobe registered too! Almost brand new and in a box! I am the current custodian as mother has laid a claim to it! What she wants it for I don't know!

  5. You need three things, fuel, air, spark. If one is missing, it will not work?
  6. I strongly suspect 4 is fine to pay the bill to have the evergreen ones reduced to under 2M if necessary. Those aren't the concern, it's the deciduous ones next to them which they're much more protective over. It appears to be much sensitive with those. Personally i'm fine with that approach. Again i'm just not certain which way the council will go with this one. Hopefully the deciduous ones dont get affected too much. 😞

  8. I'll have to check. I know the amounts that could be felled without a licence changed, before I started work, with the 1967 act but I thought it was a later act that prevented conversion of forestry to agriculture. The reason I remember is that I worked with a couple of chaps with a Cat 951 that cleared such land and I would have the wood, for selling as pulp. The Cat would push them over and I would knot them out and cut off the root. That came to an end because of the change in the law. I was nearly killed on one job, creating a pony paddock beside a manor house for new owners, the agricultural land all having been sold off to a neighbouring farm, I was working too close behind the cat snedding a birch when the back edge of the power fork caught another birch as he reversed and turned, the top landed on me
  9. That's beautiful - well done!
  10. Got any Os . What garden Os , pantie Os ? No letter Os for me gate . Mon Repose .
  11. From what I've read it's Charlie Kray's stepson who is selling them off after his mother died, might take a mooch over to the auction, not that I'll buy anything.

  14. There is nothing wrong with being content in life, and if pottering around grafting on the ground is it, then go for it.
  15. It’s about as basic a concept as you can get, it helps reduce our impact on trees and is important for minimising wear on climbing ropes and improves the consistency of systems. In the real world their not optional for moving systems, so get used to em now…
  16. Leeks. They're nice just fried up with some cabbage, like onions but sweeter. Even nicer with some lardons or pancetta added as well.
  17. Rocked it today, along with Mark and Doug. Good start helped. Wordle 1,514 2/6* ⬜🟩🟩🟨⬜ 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩
  18. An impact wrench with 500nm of torque will stop turning a big auger long before a drill with 250nm. Impact wrenches provide jolts of peak torque to fulfil their design function of loosening or tightening a machine thread. All that happens when you stick an auger on them is that the tensile strength of the wood fibres absorbs the jolt of toque and the auger fails to advance any further. Impact drivers are use to drive screws into wood, yes, but the purpose of the jolts of torque there is to prevent cam out- where the driver bit slips in the head. Driver bits with a positive lock on the fiuxing head (such as timberlocks with their hex head) do not require an impact driver and will in fact drive far faster with the sustained torque offered by a drill. I must have explained this a dozen times over the years on here, and yet still people just can't grasp such a simple fact. A long arm brace on a quality drill allows you to impact far more torque into a wood thread or auger bit than you ever could with an impact gun.
  19. I was more lucky, when in the market for a 50cc ish saw 15 years ago the chap persuaded me to spend the bit extra and get the 261. Still got it.

  22. Thanks for the response, what vehicle are you using? I'm fairly confident I can make it fit but I don't know anyone near by with a similar size grinder to try out for size I thought tie down points would be the best option, ill enquire with the chaps that did my tipper conversion

Its a little bit of a get area but I've got climbing with a saw and the IPAF ticket and I'm confident I've got all bases covered

  25. Just more decent, steady tree work from a guy who shows it nicely. Particular good section on lifting rigs from 7-15 minutes.
