  2. I am sure someone will have a use for those beams. The problem as always is finding that goldilocks customer. Many customers would want lots of them, and others will only want a 6ft piece etc. I think the way to go is Facebook marketplace. Include photos and as much info as possible in the advert. I will say though I don't think they are tropical hardwood. Zoom in on the end grain and you can clearly see the springwood and summerwood. It looks exactly like a quality softwood - pitch pine, or even larch or douglas fir. This doesn't make them any less useful in my view. If you want to get a better idea cross cut a couple of inches off one end.
  3. Oof, just woke up. Collect and stack two stillages of logs, see about a rugby game on the box and out for supper. FIL diedclast August and today would have been his birthday, he liked us all to go for a meal out so doing the same without him. Earwig, Goer, Gain.

  6. Felling 120m³ of unpopular poplars very close to a holiday park, access is via the very wet marsh below . I am not sure how i keep finding these delightful jobs. 20260108_103932.mp4
  7. Did you know that Koi fish always stay in groups of 4? It's believed that this strategy enables A, B and C Koi to scatter when a predator attacks, leaving behind the D Koi.

  9. How close to ground level does the chestnut emerge? I wonder if its seed (and subsequent roots) were/are entangled with the alder and the two stems have grown up in contact with each other - the faster growing alder has subsequently engulfed the chestnut. I think you need to cut it down and show us some cross sections…….. (please don’t - it’s ace!!)

    Stokboard

I use 9mm stokbroad in 8x4 sheets, ran 21m boom lift over it and 26m spider no problem. Moving it on site is done with long hooks to save my back. Must of had them 10 years and still going.
  11. Nice post. I havent seen that before now, it is moving to say the least.
  12. Every now and then we get Amazon brought here by the postie, often also 2 other Amazon prime vans n the street too, but it would make sense to coordinate the deliveries I reckon too
  13. @adw He will know .
  14. It can make a huge difference. The 2511 is numb on 3/8P but rips on 1/4.
  15. no thats cool. Tbh id never heard of the issues until it stopped moving. Apparently i got lucky as it can rip off the hydraulic line and that would have been a disaster due to been on a posh driveway! All well in the end though. Cheers

  17. Put up the bat signal. That needs doing. It’s a bonny hedge. Someone might be happy to do it for some shooting/ferreting permission or something. Good swap for the right person.

  21. I use the active tab 3. You can pick them up refurbished for less than £200 and does the job. As said previously though heavy rain can be an issue. Battery lasts about 6 hours but I just use a power bank to top up between jobs or at lunch time, it’s quicker that the car charger. You could put the power bank in your pocket and connect to the tablet while using to top up as you work. That is why I bought it but have never had to use that way as it charges quick. I think the active 5 lasts longer though. It’s worth getting the rugged case for about £25 it it has a strap to hang round your neck so frees your hands up when needed and it has a holder for the stylus, the tablet itself doesn’t. The GPS isn’t great, about the same as a phone. 2-4m. You can get the archer 4 which is sub metre accuracy with the expansion pack but it’s mega expensive.
  22. Not a bad price, dependant on mog spec, but considering how much 3.5 ton trucks are and towable chippers .
  23. Spot on Bob. Have you got the time Les? If you haven’t, don’t do it. If you have, only you can decide if it’s right.
