I prefer to have a free standing shed better air flow and the prevailing wind blows on the side of the shed not the front so in winter the sticks in side don't get plastered with snow! the old and the new

But looking at a 266xp it says to use a mix of 40:1 so should I mix different fuel for 390xp as it's at 50:1 or do i use the the 40:1 mix in both saws and live with a little bit of smoke from the 390xp??

400ml would be 50:1 but a bit more lubrication couldn't hurt right?

So I would be safe enough mixing 1 bottle of red line oil (473ml) into a 20 lt jerry can. For use with a Husky 390 and 2 x 266??

An 18" bar will cut 30" + from both sides, When I only had my 266xp any big logs I cut the length required and then turned the log and made another cut and so on. Its a bit slower but rather that than destroying your saw. I tried a 28" bar on the 266xp but it would not have lasted long so bought a 390xp

I work with a South African who owns a farm and breeds a few different species of antelope and giraffes wilder beast etc. These are bread and genetic samples are taken to stop cross breading and the smaller bulls/rams are culled off by hunters, this is a win/win for both party's, the genetics of the breed get better and carcass size increases and there is a controlled population of wildlife!! There are always two sides to a story! So if killing a few for sport saves the species its got to be good!!

Got to disagree with you there! You're better off buying a tractor that does not have a loader fitted as the farmers tend to abuse them (up our way anyway) SH loaders are common enough and most tractor dealers have no problem taking loaders off of tractors to sell them. You may have a hunt for brackets though./

I think the old Trima brackets should fit on a euro head stock. I have a JD653 loader with Euro 8 and the farm up the road has a older Trima loader and I can use their attachments but they cant use mine! You should check this out for yourself just speak to your local tractor dealership! And all attachments nearly come standard with Euro 8 brackets.

Another one for bear claws. I've got warn winches on my quads and 1 set of brushes in the 9 years of 3 winches so pricey but good!!

Where in Edinburgh are you as the wife wants to go to IKEA!! and I could have a look at the boards to see if they would be OK! what length are the boards and do they have square edges? Could you PM me with an idea of price and directions and when you would be there. Thanks CallumA

Question for you Steve is there a lot you can do with an old 266xp. It still runs well enough just wondered if you could get a lot more out of it or is it not worth doing anything with and just leave it as standard??

The amount of times when measuring the rivet that holds on the end on the tape hooks on the end of the work piece rather than the tape hook and I end up cutting 12 mm short!!

worked for Finning the cat dealer for 14 years and the first of them had a lot of issues with diffs. more so if they were working on hard standing they suffered from torque wind up in the drive train and then it would blow up the diff!! Just check the diffs for noise. other than that they were quite good.

Just to update tried the 8t sprocket and found that the saw bogs down when cutting logs in the saw horse so stuck back on the 7t. It could also be cause I've taken too much off of the rakers!! Anyway now I have the 8t I can mix and match.

Go to the bank get some nice new notes and go and see the guy and buy it. You cant go wrong at that price!! I'd have the crane at that price and you would have the trailer for nothing:thumbup::thumbup:

A question for the saw Gurus what size sprocket is a 390 xp supplied with as standard 7 or 8 tooth. The reason I ask is Ive fitted a jungle muffler and a carb off of a 372xt and the saw is a bit of an animal now. I wondered if it is worth upping the sprocket size for cross cutting fire wood with a 24" bar?? I would normally go to the shed and check but at work at the moment and would like to order parts before I come home:confused1:

Make sure you fill the motor case with oil before you do to much with it! there has to be oil in there to lubricate swash plate etc. Fill it with the same oil as your putting through the motor. Hope the motor is in good shape.

Yes Jon I would say I get between 10% and 15% more MPG with the chip.
