  1. With the steel, bearings and sprockets etc about 600 quid so not too bad! Spent a few hours on it and tested it before painting and had to change a couple of bits but all in all a nice shed project for the winter!!
  2. Got the home made chainsaw mill tested and painted and the resulting finish on the milled timber is better than expected!!

    Tyres

michelin agbibs are hard wearing but are terrible for cracking below the lugs on older tyres.

    560XP 20" bar

Just bought a 560 xp and wow!! run it with an 18" bar! Its so light and nimble compared to my old 266 xp and well balanced. Is the balance OK with a 20" bar or would you need to go for a shugi lightweight bar??
  5. Ended up making my own throttle assembly with the throttle cables mentioned by Shavey.
  6. finger tight and nip up with a spanner and if it leaks nip it up a bit more!!
  7. Bosch all the way not too dear either. Had 4 1/2" for 15+ years but now use a 5" grinder so i get the full use of my 9" grinding and cutting discs.
  8. Well the Husqvarna disc saw trolley throttle does not fit!! I guess I'll have to make one.
  9. As breeze block says get a gauge on the pump both the 3 cc rev and the 8cc rev pumps remember you will have to have a service being used on the pump circuit otherwise you'll just measure the back pressure on the return to tank. Does any other service supplied by the small 3 cc pump work??
  10. Thanks Guys will have to have a look at the trolley set up for disc cutters
  11. This has probably been asked before. I'm in the middle of making a chainsaw mill for making a few large beams for a shed and I'll need a remote throttle to work the saw when I'm winching the carriage through the log. Hope that makes sense! Any pictures or part # would be good. Cheers
  12. I use a Polaris 800 and a home made trailer, I had to put a leaf spring arrangement on the rear suspension to harden it up a bit as if you put too much weight on the towbar you lost all the quad ground clearance. it works OK in dry conditions and on the flat or down hill (trailer has over run brakes) But it struggles if you have any uphill bits in the wood the 800 has plenty of power but a bit gutsy on the fuel.
  13. Chip it and it will be better all round mileage and towing
  14. I got a spare set of rims and put on BF goodrich AT for the winter but they have a lot of road noise!!
  15. If its anything like the Fiat 450 it will be a pig to work on, Used to have one but got rid!! to split the tractor you have to remove the dash and the diesel tank to get at the bell housing bolts!! Very easy on the fuel though!!
  16. Would agree with Harold Taylor. Or Riddell they also have a wagon and drag
  17. Just Spruce for the Biomass boiler, trying to get in front with the wood a fair heap split in 1 day with the home made 60 ton splitter. Just need to make more boxes for them.
  18. Check out Danzco Inc and there hydraulic saws,
  19. The log boiler is serviced once a year but don't know the cost yet! The RHI payment will almost cover the installation costs so it works for me I did not do it to make money but to keep the wife happy with less mess in the house and having a warm house first thing in the morning is a boost
  20. Fitted Solar Focus Therminator 2 log boiler with a optional pellet hopper on the side of it. The only thing I would say is use some one local and ask to see some of there installations and to speak to some of there customers. The Company I used are 25 miles away and can operate the boiler from there office and I stand in front of it on the phone telling them if various components are clicking or not! Not Cheap mind but the best thing I have done as my house used to be heated with a Stanley range and a Hunter Herald 14. The days of getting up in the cold and getting the fires lit before the kids got up are long gone!! Good luck
  21. I installed a log boiler with the option of adding pellets at a later stage, Have you not got that option with all that Lodge pole billets you have split and bundled!!
  22. Finally got my log Solar Focus biomass boiler system installed and commissioned and working well, I got it commissioned before the end of September which meant I got the tariff of 7.14 p per kw/h before it dropped to 6.34 p This means over the 7 years of payments I will cover 90% of the installation costs. which is OK for me! I also oversized the boiler and the buffer tank just in case I need more heat in the future, it also means I wont need to fire it up that often in the summer.
  23. The mower is turning over but just makes a buzzing sound and won't start!! I've connected the battery charger just in case and will try this afternoon.
  24. Question for the mower experts I've got a Mountfield 1640H TCL 102 Hydro and it refuses to start all I get is an annoying buzzer sound. There is no extra lights on on the dashboard. Checked the seat switch and its OK. Just looking for some pointers. Cheers Callum
