  1. Gray recently fitted a pto pump on the back of his tractor for running the timber crane on his trailer, it may be an option to mount the hydraulic winch to the crane jib for pulling the trees up the bank. We had one on the jib of our timber trailer that went behind the mog, it proved very useful in these situations. Bob
  2. Forgot to up date this, our landscape lads have been so busy lately Reo mesh and bars through the center divider 8 cube of concrete, Mick the welder will go out this week and put up the rails. And another base the lads have just done for a summerhouse, 15 cube of concrete
  3. They are only on the fronts of our tractors for recovery and pulling in the odd tree, the winch tractor does all the other stuff. They are slow but not painfully, for pulling stuff up a bank roadside I would have thought a hydraulic winch would be ok. Bob
  4. Gray, could you not just mount a normal hydraulic winch to the front of the tractor and redirect the rope over or through the front loader with guides? The tractor hydraulics have no problems with the six ton superwinch. Just thoughts
  5. Way to busy for me If I get a chance to put headphones on its for a chill:001_cool: Its addictive , headphones and beer are a must [ame] [/ame]
  6. :lol::lol: Brilliant Bob
  7. Most have done similar at speed and come out the other side , you have to admit its just hit and hope though Bob
  8. The break/wear pattern looks like its been caused by excessive lateral movement at the other end of the ram. It may be worth checking it out, if its not I would be changing that pin end to a spherical rod end. Just thoughts Bob
  9. Does it levitate, the one we had would get stuck driving over a fag butt Cant see how we would do without them, we have five 2wd vehicles and most of them have needed one of the 4wd vehicles at some point to tow them off site. Also the trailer license thing with the 4wd gives carrying capacity not far off that of a 7 1/2 tonner. Bob
  10. I have moved a few harvesters and forwarders with the low loader in the last few years and chatting with the operators. If you can believe what they say I think they are working to keep up the finance on the kit and barely draw a working wage. Its not a new thing. Bob
  11. I will raise you Ginger Baker or Ronnie Wood Bob
  12. Nothing wrong with the GM v8 petrol or diesel conversions, it needs to go in on a proper bellhousing and piped up to a decent four core rad, the engine sits back properly and runs a mechanical fan. The running gear needs to be under 300,000 miles old and there are no problems. The pisspoor adaptor plates were the main problem, pushing the engine forward so it needed leccy fans and the plates being badly misalligned causing gearbox issues. All conversions are not equal Bob Here`s one
  13. Ok Gray I will bite A Staffa motor ( radial piston motor)would be ideal to turn the winch but you would need to match the flowrate with one of those pto driven pumps like the one on your grab (but bigger). Bob
  14. Started clearing the island on this lake today. Had to man handle the little steel work boat into the lake, its a heavy thing goes about a ton. Mick became the first casualty
  15. Thats brilliant Rhys, looks like it punches well past its weight. Does it cause much damage being a skid steer? Bob
  16. Interesting that, I will keep shtum but I do know of at least two outfits that run on other transport companies O`licenses. I suppose they are structured in a way that they are seen to belong to the company. Bob
  17. Well done Ian, its the way forward. Could your landlord not add your truck to his fleet and run on his o`license for a fee ? Dont forget the airhorns Bob
  18. If its the same as this one it has engine oil in there Mr block. http://www.manualslib.com/manual/69031/Honda-Hp400.html?page=42#manual Bob
  19. We have a friendly hgv fitter up the road that lets us on his brake rollers for £25 (folding) . Thats not bad for six axles ,half an hour of his time and the ten minutes the poor sod needs to spend with a broom when we have gone Bob

  22. Best applied for over the christmas period or when the kids break up for summer holidays. They are all short staffed and the professional complainers are pre occupied. Bob
