It was a bit Al, but went 1"-3/4"drive , then 3/4"-1/2"drive ,then 1/2"- 3/8"drive and used the 3/8" drive 13mm socket Bob

Put a tube in it JB. The yard tool cart had a puncture the other day which had catastrophic consequences, so I went up the cafe:thumbup1: Got the dog with it and fitted shitenbrinny new solid ones.No more punctures

I think its a toned down a bit now Dave , a good friend of mine lived there for years and has since moved to Renishaw. He reckoned it was like living in the wild west ,if the pub landlord wanted you out his favourite saying was "pick a window your leaving". Bob:)

Why not just buy a cheap torque multiplier and divide the torque by which ever ratio one you go for. This one is 16/1 so you could use you old torque wrench and would still have a handy tool to undo bigger stuff without going up to 3/4" drive gear. Its the way they are , as soon as the oil gets hot you have a different grinder. Direct or belt drive is far better imho but I dont think any one machine made fits all the applications. You were on a hiding for nothing with that grinder on those stumps, its way too small, a decent size machine would scoff these in minutes rather than hours. As a job you would need a range of machines from tiny to huge. Bob

Our fabricator went on walkabout for a while but now he is back and doing catchup at one hell of a rate. The backlog of other work which includes a new fancy workshop is nearly done so some of these toys can be brought forward very soon. Bob Mick Dundee on the right our auzzie fabricator. Good trucks, worth taking a fitter with you if its one of the older ones for the reasons mentioned. Good tow barge and general workhorse, ours has had a £500 S/H gearbox and a clutch early on but other than that its given us years of trouble free service. Bob

These that have been stuffed into 200ltr pots seem quite happy, if they can be hacked like this and put into pots they must as gooseflight says be quite resilient. Just baby sitting these at the moment . Bob
