  1. Recently moved the battery platform in the truck to 18v Makita, lots of goodies about for the older version of this battery platform. A surprise is the small compressor, way quicker than my twin cylinder Tmax and I don’t have to go rummaging for a battery connection. Bob. pumped up both of these dumper tyres from flat in minutes and still showed a full charge on the battery.
  2. This little spark plug tester is worthy of a mention, checks four at a time to 9000rpm. Need to leave out the spacers for the chainsaw plugs. Nice to know whether a plug is actually properly plucked when trouble shooting rather than change them just in case. Bob
  3. A few pointers here Chipper bearings Bob
  4. Nice work Stephen, thirty years ago all the old boys would bleat on about how tracks and trees didn’t work, how things have changed.🤙 Bob
  5. LG and Sambron still out there doing their thing. Bob
  6. It’s not that bad Ruben, I think the 4x4s are about £1500 a year for any driver with a U.K. license. It’s probably double what it was but I also added in sdp as well,is £750 extra pa too expensive when it’s the difference between a nipper working or not ? Bob
  7. Worth talking to your broker, our fleetplan covers any driver with no age restriction and also added in sdp use just in case they get stopped driving outside of normal working hours. Bob
  8. Don't tell these old log goblins that, at 80 they may not get a chance to burn it 😀 Bob
  9. The medical is no big deal, I have had to do one every year since I reached 65 to retain my HGV, only expense is the medical itself which is £60-£100, the license gets renewed FOC. Bob
  10. Euc is a bit slow, this would normally be gone within the hour. Bob
  11. Still using Rye oils finest👍, Barrel lasts about six months, can’t say there is any noticeable difference between that and the more expensive brands. Bob
  12. Curious to know how many hours folk work these days, in years gone by 3pm was a tea break before bashing on until 5.30-6pm. Seems to be packing up time these days. Bob
  13. The problem with that is the whole shooting match exceeds the 3.5 ton limit which falls into olicense and tacho territory. To stay legal the answer is to run two transits with a mad busy driver on turnaround all day or get one lorry, the lorry soon starts to make more economical sense 😂 Bob
  14. Only as a pointer for potential 7.5 tonner buyers, our truck has to be laden for its pmi’s. Level loaded with chip with about 200mm to spare is 9 cubic meters and puts the gross at 7 tons with driver, so in theory half a ton spare. Bob
  15. Stefan, I think your get up and go has got up and gone. Take a break, it may return. Take care. Bob
  16. Quite right Steve, mentioned this before on here. I know of a lad with cab over engine type truck, small roller shutter tool box behind that with a high sided tipper body, he was pulled at Leatherhead for looking overweight, all he had in the back was grass cuttings with a flymow thrown on top, virtually nothing in the back and he had to send his passenger home in a taxi because the front axle was overweight. Once you get to around 20% overloaded you stand a good chance of winning three points and a fine, most Transiteers are running in excess of100% overloaded. Bob
  17. Our old school 7.5 tonner can carry just over 4 tons legally and with the right drivers license is allowed a further 3.5 tons behind it, if you can be arsed to do the paperwork it’s worthwhile. Bob
  18. We have a weighbridge a few hundred yards from here and I did check out this payload malarkey a while back. A Transit with a lightweight tipper body, oddsnsods that always stay with it like rakes.shovels etc plus saws/fuel, a tank of diesel and driver in it leaves you with a legal 750kg of payload. Bob
  19. Agree an amount for away work with your employer and inc hotel/B&B costs, then go buy a camper or small caravan. This work is all over the country, nothing worse than living out of a suitcase in a crap hotel or B&B Bob
  20. It’s was a demo Chris, I put the water/diesel in the bottle to show the paste working. Bob
  21. Most waxing is down to the water content Bill, made worse with low fuel levels because of water content as a percentage. Not hard to check holding tanks and machines, there is a paste called Kolorkut , smear a bit on a stick and dip the tanks, it shows up water within as a red marker. Bob Water red diesel mix.
  22. Definitely qualifies, made worse by being buried in among bramble 👎
  23. It turned up next day. Its a bit of a beast, impressed with the fast charger, its really quick. Also fired a few staples into some hardwood which it did no problem, its got about two thousand staples to fire in next week so we will see how it gets on 👍 Bob
  24. Thanks for that Ruben, I had been resisting the temptation to go red 😂 Bought this set up, will see how it goes. Bob
  25. Thinking of getting a fencing stapler, choices are mind boggling. Air, canister or cordless powered, whats good and whats not? Got a lot to do and not feeling the love for the claw hammer. TIA. Bob
