  1. Sounds like a job for something like an eighteen tonner, you will need a mother of a crane to place loaded containers any distance other than next to the truck.May be better off with h5 type hook containers, you could do that with a ten tonner. Bob
  2. Getting a lot more of this total stump clearance these days, a lot of these developers don't just want them ground, they want the stump and all the laterals removed. One of the developers we do a lot for cited costings for dealing with the laterals and it was substantial, left in laterals affect all the outside trades on a site. Its a job for a big excavator and a power rake. Bob One of these on a thirteen tonner.
  3. Pretty much. CPC isnt an issue anyway. Exemptions from needing Driver CPC You do not need Driver CPC if you’re using the vehicle for: non-commercial carriage of passengers or goods carrying material or equipment you use for your job, as long as driving is less than 30% of your rolling monthly work driving for someone you work for, or your own agriculture, horticulture, forestry, farming or fisheries business, as long as driving is less than 30% of your rolling monthly work driving within 62 miles (100 kilometres) of your base - but the vehicle cannot be carrying passengers or goods, and driving a lorry, bus or coach cannot be your main job driving to or from pre-booked appointments at official vehicle testing centres driving lessons for anyone who wants to get a driving licence or a Driver CPC maintaining public order - and the vehicle is being used or controlled by a local authority rescue missions or in states of emergency You also do not need Driver CPC if the vehicle is: is being road tested for repair, maintenance or technical development purposes either new or rebuilt and has not yet been taxed being used or controlled by the armed forces, police, fire and rescue service, emergency ambulance service, prison service or people running a prison or young offender institution limited to a top speed of 28mph
  4. Its all the same really including drivers hours, any road vehicle should be kept/maintained in a roadworthy condition, all of them can be pulled over and checked over by dvsa at any time. Aside of an olicense the only difference between a privately run truck and one on an olicense is the maintenance regime./paper trail.Unfortunately most owners of privately run trucks only fix what a vehicle fails on come mot time, the truck run on an olicense should be able to meet test standards at any time. Bob
  5. Sounds like you can run on a restricted o license, you wont need a transport manager and you could probably get away with eight weekly PMI`s.They cost around £180 so other than the o license application you should be good to go, there is a bit of paper shuffling to do but nothing too time consuming..Its not the can of worms folk think it is and its a game changer. Bob
  6. Thats the one Mick, one tree with a dead kite in it has to stay there until defra advise otherwise. Bob
  7. Laminated glass is thermally more efficient, its probably the better option and the sort of thing any decent glass company can cut, cab glass and the like offer a mobile cutting/fitting service.. Bob
  8. Clearing some conny under watch and brief, this is about a quarter of them. Trusty telehandler still doing its thing.
  9. The two stroke petrol drills are a good choice if there are a lot of on site holes to drill. There are a few flavours, Ryobi or Stihl are good. Bob
  10. Mooching about the yard this morning having a bit of a tidy up, noticed a full dumpy bag so had a gander thinking it was one of the bags full of rakings and that it may need to go on the fire. Kin bag is nearly brimmed with soft drink cans, I started them off with this bag a few months ago because there were cans scattered around all over the place, cannot believe how much of this crap the nippers here have gotten through and this is probably only half of it. Some of this gear is expensive, its no wonder these kids are always skint, just saying. Bob
  11. I find it a lot easier backing an artic + trailer into a gateway than I do a transit + chipper. Bob
  12. Just mowing off some bramble and fern today and got that sinking feeling, found the wet spot. Leave it @Mark Bolam 😂
  13. I think its the same Deutz v8 that's in my 6x6 Iveco, goes like a bat out of hell.
  14. He took over the job of John Whittingdale who was president of the conservative's friends of Ukraine.group. Bob
  15. They are the spawn of Satan himself, pain in the arris to reverse, by the time you get to see the little critters in the mirror they are already well on their way to being jackknifed 👎 Bob
  16. Its all sounds worse than it is, I know a few lads with the restricted Olicense`s that run from small yards attached to their homes. One of them has a bit of a curfew on truck movements but its still more than workable. Bar any objections it should be straight forward. Bob
  17. I used to get all my spares from Westcon, I think Greenplant took/bought out all their stock. Bob
  18. Hi Stephen, hope you are well. Machine has a button which diverts another service for the levelling, its manual. One of the lads put it through its paces the other day doing some scrapes for the ecologists on some steep banks, works well. Think its going to be really useful on some of the tracks we do. Bob
  19. New to me addition,a Wacker Neuson ez28. This model has the tilting cab which should prove useful.
  20. These six in one screw drivers made by King Dick are worth chucking in the mobile tool box. The one screwdriver fits 1-3 in both pozi and philips. 21. Today I have been burning up a load of birch/pine regen our lads cut out on some heathland restoration work, couple of these fires will be burning for a few days.
  22. LG still doing its stuff.
  23. CD`s are available that cover all of the saws, hedge trimmers and blowers, you can get both the parts and workshop manuals that cover the lot all in one. I print off the ones I want and laminate them for workshop use. Being able to phone through the correct parts numbers when ordering spares saves a lot of time and you will never end up with the wrong part, the exploded views are also useful when assembling something someone else has pulled apart and dumped on the bench. Bob
  24. I think the bigger saws like the 088 suffer in the hands of the mechanically unsympathetic, no saw is 100% duty cycle, these bigger saws with big bars and with a chain in less than optimum condition are often relentlessly dogged into big butts with no respite. No small to medium sized saw has to poke up with the kind of abuse these big saws do. Bob
  25. I was always led to believe that you should not use high octane fuel in a two stroke, I use the cheap gear at the pumps, batch mix about 40ltrs at a time twice a week. Cant say I have ever seen a problem with water in the fuel. Bob
