  1. Most 3.5 tonners with an arb body/tool locker combo and three muckers in the front are overloaded on the front axle without any chip in the back.A few years ago a landscape guy got pulled at Leatherhead, all he had was grass cuttings on the back with a flymow thrown on top, he had to put the passengers in a taxi. Bob
  2. We are using the fuel cards until prices and deliveries stabilise . Bob
  3. Deliveries have been slow, we need to order at least two weeks in advance and they cant actually quote a rate until the day of delivery.Got phoning around and there was a 40p a litre difference between the highest and lowest price, our current supplier was the dearest so I swapped to another, some of them are definitely taking the pi55. Bob
  4. If fuel prices carry on like they are steam will become a viable option for generating electricity. Someone go and dig up Fred. Bob
  5. Dont know about that Chris, most of the folk I know living off a pension wear an overcoat indoors and spend all day licking the inside of their lounge windows. Bob
  6. This old girl is still out there earning its keep, nearly 300k on the clock on the original engine. Bob
  7. That`s a serous bit of fatigue, may be worth looking for the reason why before buying/fitting a new one, could be a balance issue. Are the knives sharpened as a matched pair or as singles? Bob
  8. My nipper has recently done his HGV, need to book it well in advance around here, seems to be a bit of a backlog of slots and tests. Bob

    How much?

Touch paper lit, stand back 😂 Bob
  10. Nothing wrong with an hourly rate as long as it includes £x per mile travelling, allows for a bit of wear and tear on the saws, starts when you leave the yard and stops when you get back. Bob
  11. I think the right direction for getting help for old folk these days would be to put them in a dingy and beach them somewhere along the Kent coast, they will be in five star luxury within the hour. Bob
  12. Guild of master craftsmen, Checkatrade and motorway maintenance stickers are a pretty good pointer. Bob
  13. Kin bang on Rubens, I will be upgrading to a tandem and taking on a labourer later in the year .
  14. A small hydraulic winch is a better job, more reliable and easier to fit/connect up.On the 190 tracked chippers you only need interrupt the flow to the tracking motors with a six way valve (about £65) and control the winch with a separate spool valve or solenoids. I have some pics of one I did somewhere. Bob
  15. I will leave this here. 626 × 626
  16. Its quite laughable that the ones most against these changes only use these rights of way for recreational use or dog walking, you would have thought they would relish the thought of extending it a tad.It would take forever to generate RAMS and implement H&S to safeguard a walker strolling around farmland, no doubt more mind numbing legislation will be winging its way towards landowners in an attempt to add another tier of misery to their lives. Bob
  17. Seems to be a common occurrence. It should be less of a ballache for farmers/landowners to reroute these "rights of way" and we would see a lot less of this. We were involved in some clearance work to divert one a few years ago, the old one had to stay in place for about two years with diversion signs showing the new route. Bob
  18. These pneumatic grease guns are worth a mention. Grease works out way cheaper than cartridges and you don't have keep stopping to change the feckers.
  19. I made a few oil dispensers out of old gas cylinders.
  20. Not really worth the grief of assembling the thing and it not working if the 200t one fits, I measured the bore and spud is right they are the same. I you are struggling to get one I have one here.
  21. Timberwolf rollers went limp. Its the second one of these pressure relief valve seats has come undone from the valve block. Only tell tale is seeing a bit of the oring sticking out from under the seat down in the hole. Attacked a 12mm deep socket with a grinder and made a castleated tool for tightening up the valve seat. If it does it again I will strip it out and loctite the fecker in.
  22. I was really only pointing out the best way to max out on payload, not a what's best for any particular setup comment. A friend of mine had an IW trailer fitted with a crane, they ballasted the rear of the trailer to bring the nose weight in line, the ballast is taking away payload. That said he found it really useful.
  23. I think with cranes the best way to max out on the non hgv route is to strap the crane to a 4x4 or towbarge that can legally pull a 3.5 ton trailer. Just use the tow vehicle as a toolbox and crane.Cant think of another way of legally carrying a two and a half ton plus payload. Bob
  24. An 880 with a nipped up piston And a 201tcm with a tear in the inlet tube caused by a broken off rear mount, handle full of bits, fiddly little feckers 👎
  25. I am going to chuck Sapele into the mix. Bob
