  1. No just the case drain, if you were to put them on the heads return pipe and then reverse it all the crap accumulated in the strainer would fire back into the flail motor. The machines hydraulics make sure everything returned from the service circuit is filtered irrespective of rotation. You only need to worry about the case drain. Bob
  2. They come apart Gray and you can either wash out or replace the element, I like them because you can see from what's in the filter when things are starting to go wrong. Bob
  3. I will get price off our man which should be in the ballpark, either way it will need cleaning and all the gunk the moss is growing in will need to come off. For a second life on what you have you could patch it and get it tarred / chipped, or clean it up and get a few tons of sealing grit on there. Either way its not a good time of year to be messing with it. Bob
  4. Send him down for an interview, we are a bit low on idiots at the moment👍 Bob
  5. It’s not a basket case, I don’t think the moss is doing it any favours though and needs to go no matter what you do.Patching always looks like it sounds,if the aesthetics are that important top dressing is the only alternative. Personally I would kill off the moss and power wash the whole drive, patch and forget about it. Bob.
  6. If you add two airbags to the rear springs you can get an app based weigher.Makes foe a cheap and easy to use weighing system App Weigh Onboard Weight Sensor For Trucks Or Trailers WWW.DIRECTNINE.UK Provides truck and/or trailer gross weight, plus axle group and estimated cargo weight to your smartphone or tablet. Works...
  7. Its got a straight eight Rolls Royce engine which my mate is having for his vintage fire truck, last time I ran the thing it guzzled about ten gallons of fuel in an hour hence the diesel conversion. There have been a few converted, I need to track one down to see what they did, saves reinventing the wheel. I will rattle you cage when its done , I want to launch it into a river at 40mph like the loons in the vid below, care to join me?
  8. 7tons is a sensible capacity for an arb truck, if you are that paranoid about being overloaded buy one with a weighing system. Bob
  9. Its still got all the swim gear on it Khriss which is quite rare, as soon as time and workshop space allow it there is a V8 Cummins turbo diesel going in there. Bob
  10. What sort of idiot would buy one of those
  11. Drain case returns barely have a dribble running back to the tank unless the hydraulic motor is knobbed , we use inline Ikron HF series filters. These just go inline on the pipe so there is no messing about within the machine trying to find somewhere to locate it and it then stays with the head for transferring to other machines. Ikron HF705 - HTL Website - HTL (Formerly BYPY) WWW.HTLUK.CO.UK Supplier of hydraulic and transmission components for over 40 years UK distributor for Walvoil Casappa Eaton Miselli
  12. I always run the case drain back separately, being able to reverse the flail when its choked up is too valuable a feature to lose. Bob
  13. That must have been a brown trouser moment Johny, I hope you weren't knocked about too much. Around here nutsnbolts (Vosa) would have been all over that incident like a rash, they would have checked out the trucks/drivers paperwork and the tractor/trailers roadworthiness. Bob
  14. The good thing about these tipper bodies that have been modified/built to go on a 4x4 is you can keep moving them on to other vehicles as the lads kill them off. The one below has been of two Hilux`s and a Ranger, this is its fourth move Put some slightly deeper sides on it this time and some lashing rings. And it lives again
  15. If you want to keep a vehicles MOT history clean and cant be arsed to check the basics yourself before taking it in take it in beforehand for a pre MOT. Sort through that list or get them to do the work and it will go straight through. Worth it for the sake of £30. Bob
  16. Yes, had a quick squint but there was only an allotment wanting a few cubes and that was a while ago. Bob
  17. Chip tip needed near Aylesbury , possibly a few loads of chogs. This will be in transits on turn around starting 25/1 for about a week. Bob
  18. If it starts ok from cold but tits about when hot I would be looking at the temperature switch. Bob
  19. Chris before you go buying a welder check out the supply, that 32amp socket may well be ok but if it’s on the end of the line in a farm building it may well be shy of a said amps. Quickest way to knob a welder is short change it of amps, if it’s down on power it may be worth looking at some of the mobile engine driven welders instead, you can always add a wire feed unit to one of these so you have the choice then of mig or stick. Bob
  20. Yes it’s home grown Mick, it’s clutched through a worm drive so no problem to pull and hold. It’s a bit of a lump so needs to go in a wheelbarrow, upside is it’s got loads of grunt and in the absence of an anchor point can be pegged down in the middle of a lawn with four 4’ long 35mm steel pins, these are angled forward so the harder the pull the more it digs in. Not had an ohfeck moment with it yet and it’s pulled in a lot of ugly trees. Bob
  21. Dealer back is always important, we have an LG importer in Portsmouth and everything seems to be next day, phoned through for a door glass at 3pm and it was at the gate 8am the next day. Even the service engineers are next day, not so sure how they fair up with service and spares backup elsewhere in the country. Bobcat seem to have got their act together in recent years, had a play on @doobin ‘s latest toy a few weeks ago, we’ll speced machine and again with decent support/ backup from the manufacturer. Bob.
  22. It’s been very well behaved to date, new tracks were only about £1,100 for the pair and they were delivered to the site next day, only job/mod I have done to it was extend the fuel inlet pickup pipe in the bottom of the tank. The original hoovered everything up from the bottom, it now has about a gallon capacity as a sludge/crap/water trap. It’s not really Chinese , they have zf hydraulics and kamatsu engines. I will buy another one in the near future. Bob
  23. There is nearly three times the power of a 6" chipper under the hood of a Landrover , there is no reason why it couldnt be sorted out properly to equal or out perform a tow chipper. Most PTO chippers need tinkering with to get the best out of them, an example of this is a lot of guys run 540 rpm pto chippers at 1000rpm and then turn the engine revs down. Once you get it right they are good, not many are fit and forget. Bob
  24. You can get a pto to the rear of a landrover quite easily, they used to make a box that reversed rotation and stepped down the speed to make it the same as a tractor PTO ,this bolted to the rear cross member and gave you the pto spline, weak point is the clutch plate hub centre which needs beefing up. Engine speed is then controlled with a speedic unit to maintain correct pto rpm. I have a few kits in the shed, I will take some snaps. Bob
