  1. We still use John ( member) at Rye oils for chain oil and other lubricants, 200ltr barrels are good value and most of their stuff is next day delivery Bob
  2. There is an O ring that gives up on the distribution blocks pressure relief valve that can cause a sudden loss of flow. Quick and easy thing to check. Bob
  3. My bestest guess sat here in a chair is there is a dodgy earth on the vehicles body earths ( not the one from the battery- to the engine) and its trying to find an earth return through the reverse switch, hence dying when selected. There will be a nest of earths somewhere, might be an idea to find them and run a jump lead from the battery - to them, just thoughts. Bob
  4. Its in your interest to get the ex tractor unit downplated, with the fifth wheel removed it would be impossible to get enough weight on the back of the truck to perform a brake test, as a bonus the downplated tractor unit will be a lot cheaper to tax. Bob
  5. 4x4's under 2,040kg are exempt. 3.3 Dual-purpose vehicle and trailer combinations A dual-purpose vehicle and any trailer drawn by it is identified as being exempt from operator licensing under existing legislation. Therefore, where you use a 4x4 and trailer, an operator’s licence will not be required. Examples of dual-purpose vehicles can include 4x4 all-terrain vehicles or even estate cars: vehicles which are constructed or adapted for the carriage of both goods and passengers. The unladen weight is 2,040kg.
  6. More of a gadget than a tool, wireless mag mount trailer lights. Been using these for a while now on things like the welfare unit which is a nightmare to hang a trailer board off. Last a few hours between charges, the plug is a transmitter, the usb charge lead is double ended so they can both be charged off the fag lighter. Handy thing to keep tucked under a seat
  7. Nothing new in this, had some engine cases blasted with crushed walnut over forty five years ago. The guy said that sand or glass blasting gets into the pores of castings and is virtually impossible to remove, on running engines its basically a grinding paste waiting to happen. Similar problems occurred with sand castings, bits of sand/slag could contaminate the oil, a lot of high end/expensive engines and gearbox castings were painted internally with red Glyptal to seal in the contamination. Not such a big deal these days with modern die and other casting techniques. Bob
  8. It looks like a rehash of the 1950's TS3 Commer engine using gears instead of rockers.
  9. Were you poking rootstock through a chipper? Bob
  10. Going to mention this 9" petrol angry grinder recently purchased, makes all the battery gear look very limp.Ideal for flail sharpening, swap to a thin disc and its the nuts for cutting metal or crap out of the mulcher. Handy thing to keep in the van, tank will need a bit more protection but other than that its been brilliant.
  11. Extinct breed Rubens 😂
  12. I dont think there is one mewp that does everything well, big outreach normally goes hand in hand with more weight or footprint. Would help to know what type of work its intended for. Edit. intended use has been answered. Bob
  13. Luigong still out there doing its thing. Little EZ28 just finished two weeks of gorse/bramble busting.
  14. You wont need any help with a restricted license, all the info is in the pack and its all pretty straight forward. Gets a bit more involved with a standard national or standard international. Bob
  15. I removed all of the mower fixtures and made an adjustable platform to bolt the blades down onto, its got a sweep of around four feet so you can bolt in multiples of blades at a time. I will dig out some snaps of it. Bob
  16. DVSA were making noises a few years ago about new legislation regarding cargo nets/tarps on loose loads. Enclosing a tipper may not be a bad shout, only problem I can see would be the swirling of chip when blowing into a closed off box body, could get messy. Bob
  17. Big balanced trailers behind Mogs are horrendous and painfully slow, better off with a truck. Bob
  18. Cant see what they think they are gaining out of this, they will become net losers with firms declaring all non commercial vehicles as pool cars. Its just an excuse to employ an extra platoon of chair polishing parasites to gnaw away at the cabbage of life, this country is drowning in bullshit. Bob
  19. As said a fag paper clearance, worth taking into consideration a tad of float on the rotor shaft bearings or bearing housings. There can be a small amount of wear in the bearings and or the bearing housing which will let the rotor walk, I always load the shaft towards the anvil when doing the clearances. Bob
  20. https://www.ate-uk.com/products/750kg-unbraked-rubber-suspension-axle-for-timberwolf-chipper.html
  21. No, recent years. Speedbumps/humps around here kill the chipper axles, the bumps are worse because the trucks straddle them but the chipper gets launched, the meatheads behind the wheel don't often spare a thought for the chipper. Also worth noting there were two axles made for the timberwolf and they don't interchange. Bob
  22. The last unbraked axle I bought for a 150 was £350 and that was from Greenplant. Bob
  23. A stretched dumper makes a fair mini forwarder, weight over driven wheels and very compact. Bob
  24. We used to run a 10 tonner about for the smaller kit, that had a six ton payload and the truck itself was no bigger than a 7.5 tonner. Bob
  25. I think you can just about legally tow a 2.7/2.8 ton excavator on a something like an IW plant trailer behind a 4x4 or Transit, buckets etc would have to go on the truck and you would have to edge the digger forward a tad so as to have about 100kgs nose weight on the tow hitch.Should be about 100kgs light if you were put over a weighbridge. Bob
