  1. We have had good service out of our L200, its on 300,000 miles now. Its had an engine change but that was due to a rad failure which cooked it. The old boy that drove it used to get good mpg out of it. Cheaper on bits than all the others because of the amount of bits shared with the Shogun.
  2. Will if you want mig,tig and arc why not get a unit along the lines of our Esab that has a seperate power source . From there you can run arc or plug in a mig wire feed unit which is a lot less cumbersome than dragging a complete set about. Some of the wire feed units like the Thermal arc one will run off a mobile arc plant which is handy for on site hard facing.Wire is inside away from the rain and mud Bob

  4. I bought one of these cheapy petrol jobs a few years ago, its been trouble free. + side is it will work off of a drum of water so you can take it on site to blast the crud off gear rather than bring it back and cack up the yard. They have sold nearly 3000 of them so they must be ok. FoxHunter Petrol Power Pressure Jet Washer 2200PSI 6.5HP Engine With Gun Hose | eBay Edit: Its no a substitute for a steam cleaner Bob
  5. My road to work , damn back roads:) Bob [ame] [/ame]
  6. I agree, I dont understand why they would take the vehicle until they were ready to bolt the thing on, if the body was ready its a days work at the most to fit it. If the body is not ready why take the vehicle? Bob
  7. Managed to get a few more sheets up on the mancave extension Stubbs.
  8. Sand is one of the oddball concessions you get for overloading, its conceivable in Vosa`s eyes that rain can affect loaded vs roadside weight. Its not much , I think its 5% but dont quote me on that. Bob
  9. Good, Mick Dundee is flat out on all the projects. I will get some pics and post up some of his handywork. Bob
  10. Forestry/Arb is not very well catered for in the truck world, most of the HGV`s you see on here have had adaptations or custom bodies made. Its not cheap ( ask JB ) but the only way to go. Bob
  11. I think most of the lads on here should be 7.5 ton plus trucks, they just dont realise what its costing by not having one. Bob
  12. Looking good Could you imagine running just the 7,5 tonner now then Al ? Bob
  13. Jonny I think it needs some wait for it JB weld

  15. Thats the one, takes up to a twelve foot bar, My mates lost his yard so I am having the saw, I may mash it into a tracked dumper chassis so we can take it in site to chog up oversized butts. Anythings got to be better than hanging off the end of an 880 all day. The chain is a bit of a lump but cant see it being a problem to sharpen, there is probably a rotary stone for those hand held chain grinders that will do the job ( I hope ) Bob The bar is quite wide.
  16. More Rhody bashing, a few weeks mulching racks through so the cutters can clear round the trees then go back over it. Selfy complete with cheesy grin and sunglasses on while hanging out of a tree to follow. Bob
  17. Finally managed to find enough junk in the states to fill a container and get the deck saw back. Its an impressive bit of kit, I dont know what the chain is but its massive compared to 3/8" . The whole thing goes about half a ton.
  18. How about a Schaeffer Marcus, sub 5k and will pick up a ton. Just dont let the guys drive it, ours have had it on it side on more than one occasion, AJ has mastered it though I think it weighs about 2.5 ton so ok on a trailer. Bob
  19. Most of the bigger forklifts on phneumatic tyres will scramble about on hardcore ok. This POS I have gets about ok and will lift two ton to a height of 3mts, it loads onto a trailer. Downside is it eats £35 gas bottles and spark plugs , they are also bad starters in the winter. If it had a heart I would drive a stake through it, that said they are must have in a yard . Bob
  20. City types normally have deep pockets and tend to kick off with expensive legal action. I would be inclined to agree with Donk and attempt to quieten down the operation. A guy down the road that lives off grid used to have a lister genny banging away all night, Although he was a mile away this thing could be heard all around. The locals were about to kick off so I popped in to see him and we agreed to stack straw bales around the genny, job done. That or tell him to shove his head where the sun dont shine Bob
  21. I would go along with this. If you stick a loaded 3.5 ton trailer behing a 4x4 it tends to throw the truck about on rough roads and you are always aware its on there, thats a bit of a cushion for the drawbar and hitch. Put the same trailer behind a lorry and you find yourself checking the mirrors more often to see if the trailer is even still attached because the truck chassis wont budge an inch , all the stresses then are on the drawbar/hitch. As John points out it may be worth getting a hitch with a spring/shock system ( never seen one ) Bob
  22. The old girl has a fan club of one Bob
  23. A simple plate with some gussets ( we like gussets ) like the one Mick Dundee repaired on Al`s 18 tonner will do the job. Bob
  24. The drop plate/hitch needs more support at the bottom. Bob
