    New Tipper

There have been many negative posts regarding running trucks over 3.5 tons and they in the most part revolved around cost/investment. Has anyone here ever calculated the true cost of not running a proper truck as in the time wasted running about clearing up jobs ( the hard bit ) ? I think those of you that are stacked out with work would be surprised how much economic sense a truck makes. At the very least start thinking small Mog/tractor and trailers. Just ramblings Bob
  4. Managed to get the tipper body hinged yesterday, just leaves the tipper ram frame to mount and that`s the three interchangeable bodies finished. Just needs hiab bolting down, a service and some chassis black . Bob Ready for paint Tipper mounts on
  5. I did try selling logs Mick but we were far to disorganised and unreliable, we had a huge pile in the yard that were not sorted and when delivering which was sometimes not even in the same month of the order we would get the " they are too big, too small , too wet or too dirty" crap from the customers. Then tried nets at the gate which sold very well , my kids though it was a great idea collecting the cash so I gave up and now just sell the timber on. Bob
  6. 90hp will run one John but 160hp ish is about right so the Massey with the pump juiced up does ok. Its more about technique and being patient than pure Hp because if you back a 350hp tractor/mulcher into a stump too fast it will stall just the same. You can cover one hell of a lot of ground in a day if you just take it steady. The rides above and two others, the area below in the pictures and one more like it to the left were choked up with windbown trees, hawthorn, neglected coppice and scrub, they were cleared to open up the vista . All of the above work was achieved (which included mowing all the stumps off at ground level)in four days with no cutters or assistance, that represents value for money which is what most customers are after Good solid bits of kit, keep it greased/oiled and make sure the anvils at the back of the drum are maintained/replaced as they wear. 15,000 plus hours clocked up on the old one with a just a few casing repairs on the way, bearings ,drive box and hydraulics were all still the originals. Bob
  7. Seppi Steve, been with them for about fifteen years now. Bob
  8. More boring mulching pics About half a mile of neglected coppice and overgrown ride opened out to fifteen meters plus.
  9. After taking hundreds of tons of pure shite I have my first thank you letter from a log goblin. Kind of warms your heart Bob
  10. Tackleberry`s method is best , in fact it should become a sport. Cat in Tree | BLUtube
  11. The hinge is at the back Stubbs:) dont get that many going sideways though.
  12. We discussed these a while back http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/large-equipment/75270-interesting-bit-kit.html#post1128767 Bob
  13. To help identify the problem swap the two steering pipes over on the steering head or if the pipes will reach on the ram and try it again. You should be able to eliminate the steering head from the ram. Bob
  14. I think its a lot easier to show someone how to weld than it is to talk them through it, an hours tuition with an experienced welder is worth days if not weeks of reading and courses. Bob

  16. I go out the back to the stables and chat up the yard totty. Bob
  17. HD springs will make the back of the truck sit high when empty, on reflection I should have gone for standard on our l200 . If its to increase load carrying capacity they are probably the way to go but if its just for normal use go standard. The kits are cheap and come with longer U bolts. With the L200 you can wind up the front torsion bars to level the truck up. This is the Navara kit but its the same sort of thing, complete with new bushes and U bolts
  18. It could have been written by a pollertishun Kevin Bob
  19. You can have that one Kevin, I know nothing about grouse moors or flood defences . ( I might be back though ) Reforestation of current barren shooting grounds, as an example, might mitigate future rainwater run-off and soil erosion, would likely provide greater and higher levels of diverse, enduring and long term employment and a cash crop of timber to contribute towards GDP..... Whilst still, potentially, providing all of the hunting / shooting benefits (mindful that I am DSC1 and SGL holder) albeit perhaps not suited to the mega rich daft bustard who wants to pay 1000's to stand in line and have dozy birds driven towards his gun, and probably still fail to bag them. Barren shooting grounds? kinell Kevin we dont have any of those around here, all harvested sites are mulched and replanted. Any of the racks we cut through scrub to assist beaters are paid for by the shoot and not government coffers, its just another industry and probably best left alone. Bob
  20. I am led to believe that all the funded grant-able work agreed up until 2018 is safe and will go ahead, whether government funds are going to available post brexit is debatable. I would imagine purse strings will be tightened and the industry will just die on its arse. Bob
  21. Many on this forum are employed directly in this type of work, I dont agree with it but if its granted its normally only a percentage and if the grants were not there the work would not get done = more jobs gone. Bob
  22. I cant believe for a moment anyone would think that taxing the wealthy would improve the countries finances or benefit the working class. In short they would be gone along with their wealth long before any legislation or new tax laws made a dent in it. Right now this country needs to attract investment and not scare it away. Bob
  23. Eggs thats the sort of reply I get from Mrs Aspenarb Bob
  24. s0mE wOrk3rs aRe noT wOrth tHe m1nimUm wA6e thoUgh E6g. Some are worth double, I think ability dictates the rate of pay and the minimum working wage is just another tax on employers. Bob
